The Intrepid Foundation has just released its 2025 Impact Report, marking its biggest year of global giving to date.
In 2025, more than CAD $3.2 million was disbursed to over 58 partner organizations across 45 countries, supporting initiatives that tackle inequality, protect the environment and strengthen local communities.
The Intrepid Foundation follows a trust-based, locally-led approach to global giving, with local Intrepid teams identifying and supporting grassroots partners in their own communities.
This model spreads funding across a diverse network of smaller NGOs to maximize impact where it’s needed most. Many of these partners are also connected to the communities visited on Intrepid trips, helping travellers build a deeper connection to the places they visit.
In 2025, beneficiaries included Ezwitti in Jordan, which helped provide more than 91,000 meals to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. In Sri Lanka, partner ZeroPlastic was able to construct a ZeroPlastic Impact Centre, creating a space for local artisans to sell alternatives to plastic and supporting its mission to tackle the country’s plastic pollution. While in Greece, partner AMURTEL hosted more than 1,800 maternal support groups for refugee and migrant mothers in 2025 alone.
Biheng Zhang, General Manager, The Intrepid Foundation said: “The Intrepid Foundation operates on the belief that no one understands a community’s challenges better than the people on the ground, working with local organizations every day. The impact we achieved in 2025 was made possible by these remarkable and resilient individuals quietly leading change in their communities, alongside the generosity and connection our global travel community has shown to the places they visit.”
The CAD$3.2 million was made possible by 16,293 donors, including 9,739 travellers. Their support enabled the Foundation to onboard six new partners, including Ezwitti in Jordan, Scholars of Sustenance in Indonesia, National Parks Conservation Association in the U.S., Monteverde Conservation League in Costa Rica and Tasuleasa Social Association in Romania.
It also helped fund over CAD $630,000 in grants, helping to bring specific, mission-led initiatives from its partners to life. 2025 also saw The Intrepid Foundation surpass CAD $19.4 million in total funds disbursed since its establishment in 2002 – a significant milestone for the organization.
In 2026, The Intrepid Foundation aims to raise $4.1m CAD, as it moves closer to its long-term ambition to become a $10m Foundation by 2030. It also plans to welcome close to 20 new partners, strengthening its mission to create positive change through the joy of travel, community and connection.
