Intrepid Travel has launched three new Women’s Expeditions in Peru, Cambodia and Bhutan. Led by a local female leader, the new trips range from 8 to 11 days and feature unique, women-led activities that break down gender barriers and support women-owned businesses, while delivering exceptional experiences to travellers.
On the eight-day Peru Women’s Expedition, highlights include traversing the lesser-known Chinchero to Urquillos hike in the Peruvian Andes with an all-female crew.
In Cambodia, the eight-day itinerary features a street food tour with TukTuk Srey, a women-led TukTuk enterprise that exclusively employs female drivers.
As for Bhutan, the 11-day journey takes travellers through the Himalayas before they unwind with a traditional herbal hot stone bath at the women-owned Tshering Farmhouse.
In announcing the launch of the new programs, Intrepid pointed out that today more women are seeking travel experiences that offer deeper connection, community and cultural immersion.
The operator also notes that women now make up over half of Intrepid travellers and the Women’s Expedition range grew by 32% in 2025, with 77% of travellers joining solo.
Designed specifically for women, the new trips create space for connection, spark meaningful discussion and offer travellers rare insight into the lives of local women through immersive experiences.
Erika Kritikides, General Manager of Experiences at Intrepid Travel, observed: “As we continue to evolve our Women’s Expeditions range, we’re prioritizing destinations where tourism can deliver meaningful positive impact, while offering unique, women-led experiences for our travellers.”
Kritikides continued: “Travel has the power to create positive change, and we recognize that when women are empowered, it creates a ripple effect within the community. These trips support women tourism entrepreneurs and help break down gender barriers in the industry – and as women step forward, they’re holding the door open for others to follow.”
And she concluded: “We remain committed to working closely with our local teams to support these women and advance gender equality in tourism.”
With these new additions, Intrepid’s Women’s Expedition range now spans eight adventures globally, including India, Morocco, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Each itinerary is intentionally designed to support women in tourism in countries where gender barriers still exist and they’re not always afforded the same opportunities as men.
Globally, women represent 36% of Intrepid trip leaders, with the company aiming to reach 40% by 2030 as it continues to expand its portfolio of women-led experiences. These latest trips will directly develop 12 women-led experiences and support eight new women-owned businesses.
