Nothing lasts forever and same could be said about marriage in Bradley Cooper’s dramedy Is This Thing On? Searchlight Pictures have dropped the official UK Trailer for this one and it seems D.I.V.O. R.C.E for Will Arnett and Laura Dern.
It’s not everyday we get to say Arnett in a career defining performance. If you go by the early reviews of Cooper’s film he delivers could it get him or even Dern awards recognition?
Is This Thing On? follows middle aged Alex who is about to face divorce. He does find new purpose to life as a stand up comedian in New York. You’re never too old to try anything, our age is only a number!
The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, and Scott Icenogle.
Our writer Ellis Lamai watched the film at the BFI London Film Festival last month. Ellis described the film as “delivering Bradley Cooper’s most muted but yet strongest directorial effort to date“.
Synopsis | As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce and finds new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family – forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form.
Is This Thing On? will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 30th January 2026 ( 19th December in the U.S).
