Last year, the music world endured the loss of Ozzy Osbourne. Since then, fans have been following the heavy metal icon’s family as they’ve continued to share stories about him. Recently, Ozzy’s son, Jack, has touched on his father’s final moments.
Jack Osbourne Discussed The Morning His Father Ozzy Died
Ozzy was known to many as the frontman of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Later in his life, he and members of his family were introduced to fans all over again through the reality series, The Osbournes, which ran from 2002 to 2005.
Tragically, Ozzy passed away on July 22, 2025. His primary cause of death was later ruled as an acute myocardial infarction and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This also followed his battle with Parkinson’s disease. The singer was 76 at the time of his passing.
Recently, Ozzy’s son, Jack, opened up about his father’s death, particularly the morning on which he died. This was during an appearance on Jamie Kennedy’s Hate to Break It to Ya podcast.
Jack noted that the day first felt like any other day, even for his father. As he shared, “It wasn’t anything dramatic. “He was up, he was doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it.”
Jack Had Previously Shared That He & His Family Were Having Dreams Of Ozzy
As Jack continued, he felt that this all made what happened all the more shocking in the moment. He shared, “Obviously, everyone knew he was sick, but it wasn’t…”
Jack added, “He was really gearing up for the [Black Sabbath final] show, so he was exercising a lot and moving around. He was fired up. But yeah, we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was.”
However, there was one person Jack thought might have had a better understanding, and, in some sense, possibly even control, over what happened. This was his father, Ozzy, himself. As Jack explained during the discussion, “I just think he was done… I do think we have a choice, to a degree.”
As previously reported, Jack Osbourne has often talked about his father and the legacy he’s left behind, especially to his family, over the past few months. While speaking with Billy Morrison on Sirius XM in late 2025, he shared that he and his loved ones, including his daughters, were having vivid dreams of Ozzy. At the time, he recounted, “We all keep having dreams about him. In the dreams, he is laughing.”
Jack continued, “And he is saying, ‘Just stop f****** crying’. He’s laughing every time. Me and my wife, my daughters, all the same thing. We keep seeing him in our dreams, laughing.” This caused Morrison to share, “I’ve seen him. He’s good, Jack. He’s not in pain.”
