Jackée Harry Slams AI Reimagining Of ‘Sister, Sister’ Cast

Actress Jackée Harry, best known for her roles in “Days of Our Lives” and the ’90s sitcom “Sister, Sister,” recently slammed a social media user who used AI to reimagine the iconic show’s cast. In a lengthy Instagram post, Harry, 69, expressed her appreciation for those who show love to the series she starred in alongside twins Tia and Tamera Mowry. However, she also voiced her frustration with the generative technology, suggesting it sometimes crosses a boundary.

Harry shared two different posts on Instagram. One showed the new, reimagined cast of “Sister, Sister,” featuring figures intended to look like Tia, Tamera, Harry’s character (Lisa Landry), Tim Reid’s character (Ray Campbell), and two young men who could be the twins’ sons. However, Harry wasn’t impressed by the creation, questioning how anyone could have come up with the idea in the first place.

“I love that you love our little show. But c’mon. That doesn’t even look like me! WHO IS SHE? And WHO are those boys?? Tia & Tamera’s kids?? Since WHEN?!” she wrote.

Harry went on, explaining that she’s not “anti-AI;” however, the actress believes there should be a balance when it comes to the intelligence tool. “But when it comes to bringing characters back to life…Baby, that’s a job for the professionals. Real humans with real ideas,” she said.

She finished, “And if they ever decide to bring back Sister, Sister, maybe they won’t have me out here looking like somebody’s auntie from an entirely different show.”

Harry’s post comes days after an AI creator went viral after sharing a clip that saw her hanging out on the set of some of her favorite sitcoms, including “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” “Martin,” “Moesha,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” and “The Parkers.”

The videos appeared unnervingly realistic, sparking concern among some commenters who saw the trend as going too far.

“Technology is becoming what we feared it would be,” a user commented, while another wrote, “So sick of AI, honestly, truly.”

Netizens shared similar reactions under Harry’s post, including actress Denyce Lawton, who voiced her disapproval with the latest AI trend.

“I wish [they’d] stop using our images in all of these apps without our permission too. Like, we were on strike for a whole year for THIS REASON!” she wrote.

While the jury is still out on the “Sister, Sister” reboot, Harry opened up about her special bond with the twins in a previous interview, revealing she’s stayed in touch with them since their show wrapped in 1999.

“They won’t leave me alone,” Harry joked. “I go to their house, their parties, I know their kids. They’re fabulous. Tia lives right around the corner from me. She’s fab, her brother…I mean, I love them genuinely.”

Since starring in “Sister, Sister,” Tia and Tamera have gone on to have expansive careers, including their collaborative works such as “Double Wedding,” “Seventeen Again,” and the Halloween-themed film “Twitches.” The latter sees the two as long-lost twins who are reunited on their 21st birthday, when they also discover their magical powers and their obligation to protect the town of “Coventry” from the darkness.

The first two films premiered in 2005 and 2007, and since then, fans have been clamoring for a third. According to a previous report from The Blast, Tia and Tamera are down, but they need the big dogs at Disney to sign on the dotted line. “Come on,” she said. “It’s Disney. Come on, Disney. You guys have a yes from me; you have a yes from Tamera. So, let’s do it, Disney!”

Tamera also expressed her desire to do a third film, sharing, “I mean, I would love to. I would love to. I think there are a lot of things that would have to align. And then, there’s so much pressure when the original was so iconic.”

Before giving fans hope with her latest message, Tia and Tamera had some of their supporters worried when headlines in 2024 suggested they were going through a rough patch in their relationship. Despite the rumors, Tia cleared the air, according to The Blast, noting that their dynamic changed as they grew older due to their roles and responsibilities as mothers and wives. That doesn’t mean the pair is in a bad place, though. In fact, to calm people’s minds, Tia shared that they’ve since made a pact to call each other once a week to catch up. “… as long as we make time for each other, that’s all that matters.”
