Jelly Roll has completely changed his life and lost over 200 pounds. But is he going too far? Fans are concerned after he said he wants to lose even more weight. Keep reading to find out more about his weight loss goals.
Jelly Roll Spoke In 2022 About Weight Loss Goals
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, spent his youth in and out of prison. He was finally released for good in 2009. After getting his GED in prison, he set his sights on a career in the music industry. His initial attempts at breaking into the rap genre didn’t lead to superstardom. However, once he put a country twist on his music, he flew to the top of the music charts.
Jelly Roll was raised near Nashville, Tennessee, so a shift to country music didn’t come out of nowhere. Three years after his hit song “Son of a Sinner” hit #1 in 2022, the singer has shown no signs of slowing down. He went on his first tour of Europe and Australia earlier this year. When his star began to rise, Jelly Roll began to fear that his weight could lead to an early death.
He started a weight loss journey a few years ago with unexpected results. “I lost some weight this year in 2022, but in 2023 I wanna finally conquer the demon,” he told Music Mayhem at the time. He’s since lost over 200 pounds, debuted a slimmer figure, and shaved off his beard. But he’s not done yet.
He Wants To Lose Even More Weight
Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo, has been a huge support during his weight loss journey. Earlier this year, he opened up on her podcast about his next goals in his weight loss journey. He wants to lose even more weight. Massive weight loss like the singer’s often leaves rolls of fat behind.

The “Need a Favor” performer said he plans to have the excess skin removed once he’s reached his weight loss goal. He also wants to be photographed without his shirt on for Men’s Health or another health magazine.
Fans Worry About ‘Save Me’ Singer
Jelly Roll told his wife on the podcast that he lost the weight the old-fashioned way by changing his diet and exercising more. He said that he didn’t have anything against weight-loss drugs, but was afraid that the side effect of acid reflux would harm his singing voice.

But now that he’s debuted a shockingly slim face, fans doubt that he did it all the natural way. As a Nashville native, Jelly Roll is a huge fan of the city’s NFL team, the Titans. He made his first public appearance since shaving his face at the team’s game against the Seahawks on November 23, 2025.
Fans took to the comments on a video of him on the field with concern over his new look.
- “wtf how is he losing weight that fast”
- “All these body positive celebs flocking to Ozempic now that it’s widely available for the rich”
- “Dude needs a new nickname now”
- “Why does he look in worse shape after losing weight”
- “That ozempic made him somehow look less healthy.”
Jelly Roll definitely looks different, however, he hasn’t confirmed using Ozempic to lose more weight. He previously promised to be transparent about his weight loss journey. Tell us in the comments if you think he’s lost too much weight.
