Jelly Roll‘s wife is not tolerating any form of ill speech about her husband.

Bunnie Xo did not hold back with her choice of words as she slammed those who raised their voices against her husband for upholding and mentioning his faith at the 2026 Grammys.

Jelly Roll walked away from the Grammys on Sunday, February 1, with three awards for the books. He won the Best Contemporary Country Album category,  Best Country Duo/Group Performance, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo, did not mince her words when she spoke about those slamming her husband online for mentioning his faith at the Grammys. Her unfiltered words to them echo a clear message, but her walk with God constrains her actions.

Jelly Roll, in his acceptance speech, said, “I wanna tell y’all right now, Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not owned by one political party. Jesus is not owned by no music label. Jesus is Jesus, and everybody can have a relationship with him.”

The negative responses that followed on social media to the singer declaring his faith were horrific and sad, as per Bunnie Xo. She said during the Sunday, February 8, episode of her “Dumb Blonde” podcast that she had been seeing videos of people calling her husband “a performative Christian.”

The podcaster shifted focus to the woman who made the video spreading the claim, whose name remained undisclosed, calling her a “f-cking c-ckbag.” The country singer’s wife added:

“First of all, if I wasn’t trying to walk with God, I would find you and slap the sh-t out of you, lady. Because of your voice, the pitch was just so much. It was like nails on a f-cking chalkboard. But I’m trying to turn the other cheek and be better. To me, in what world is it OK to ever question somebody’s walk with God?”

Bunnie Xo Got Candid About Her Relationship With Religion

Before addressing the content creator who created an uproar about the speech directly, Bunnie Xo explained that a lot of people weaponize the bible and religion more than they celebrate the name of Jesus, and this affects others’ decision to be Christians.

The podcaster delved into her personal experience with religion, sharing that she has a complicated relationship with it. Explaining further, she noted that due to the eye-opening experiences she had growing up, she did not want to be a Christian for years.

The negative experience of hypocrisy and backbiting among church members cemented her decision to part ways with the religion.

The entertainer also said that while her experience affected her decision to hold on to Christianity, the current happenings surrounding how her husband’s speech was received have also made a mark on her mind.

“Seeing all of these people online just tearing apart my husband’s walk of faith makes me not want to associate with that type of Christianity,” the 46-year-old said.

Before the singer walked up on stage after he was announced the winner in the best contemporary country album category, he kissed his wife, then went to receive his golden gramophone, holding a Bible.

“First of all, Jesus, I hear you, and I am listening, Lord! I am listening, Lord,” he began, then went on to express gratitude to his wife for her support, his record label, country radio, and Jesus for changing his life.

Jelly Roll gave more details about his past, revealing a time when he had only a radio and a Bible while behind bars.

TODAY shared the singer’s message, spreading his stance with his faith. He said that music and God were the two forces that changed his life, and that he encouraged people to come to Jesus.

The father of two gave an open invitation to the audience before walking off stage. Speaking to reporters backstage, he shared his excitement for being a form of representation to many viewers.

The ‘Son Of A Sinner’ Singer Refused To Use The Grammys Stage As A Podium For Political Talk

Jelly Roll firmly maintained that, despite the happenings in the country, he would not join the league of artists who used the Grammy Awards as a platform to declare their political stance.

Many artists, while receiving their awards, spoke to the events occurring involving the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but the singer washed his hands of the subject.

The musician cleared up backstage that he had no intention of giving his voice to the conversation, explaining that he does not believe his opinion matters. As shared by The Blast, Jelly Roll expressed that he feels largely disconnected from politics and current events.

Still speaking on the subject, the Grammy winner shared that his disconnection from current events stems from an 18-month period when he did not have a phone, but that politics as a whole was not a regular topic in his household growing up.

“I didn’t even know politics were real until I was in my mid-20s in jail. That’s how disconnected you are when you grow up in a drug-addict household. We weren’t having conversations about rural politics. We were trying to survive,” the singer said.

Even in his speech, the musician did not fail to credit his wife for helping him get back on his feet. He has previously spoken about her active contributions and efforts to help him overcome his addiction problems.

Jelly Roll shared that he had been to jail about 40 times with a wide range of charges to his name, and he also detailed his struggle with drugs and other illicit substances to the point where Bunnie Xo had to weed out friends who were influencing him negatively from his life.

The Blast reported that, out of the three awards the Nashville native walked home with, one was for the love of his life. Bunnie Xo told reporters that night that she was keeping one for herself, saying, “I feel like I deserve it.”

Her husband confirmed this on ET when he shared his plans for the golden gramophones, disclosing that one would go to the county jail to serve as an inspiration to the inmates.
