Jeopardy! has been a staple on television for over 60 years. Ken Jennings has hosted since 2023. The former contestant was eventually named as solo host after Alex Trebek passed away. The popular game show was unexpectedly pulled off the air. Fans took to social media to share their anger and frustration with the decision. Keep reading to find out more about the schedule change.
Jeopardy! Unexpectedly Pulled Off The Air
Jeopardy! fans expecting to tune in to the game show after enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with their families will be sorely disappointed. The show was pulled from the air on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28.
According to The U.S. Sun, new episodes or reruns of Jeopardy! won’t air on those dates nationwide. However, what airs in its place depends on where you live. For many viewers, the time slot will be pre-empted for sports coverage.
The show typically streams on Peacock the next day, but it’s unclear if new episodes will be available despite not airing on national television.
Game Show Fans Angry About Missing Their Favorite Game Show
Fans took to social media to vent about the unexpected schedule change. While it’s understandable that Jeopardy! wouldn’t air on a national holiday, Friday’s pre-emption made little sense to viewers.
“Ughhh this is such a bummer!,” one fan wrote on social media. Many viewers are used to the show getting pre-empted on Mondays due to Monday Night Football.

Wheel Of Fortune Yanked, Too
Jeopardy! isn’t the only game show affected by the schedule shakeup. Wheel of Fortune won’t air on those dates either, despite announcing a major tournament where fans could win thousands of dollars along with the contestants.
WoF teamed up with DraftKings Casino for the promotion. The tournament ends on Friday with a showdown between the champions from M-Thursday. One annoyed viewer asked on social media, “Any reason why Wheel of Fortune would air a tournament this week when there are preemptions in 90% of the US on Friday?”

Another added, “I thought that was odd, Usually Thanksgiving week and Christmas and New Year’s week are preempted plus lots of viewers are busy and not watching.”
A third fan agreed, writing, “yeah it just feels kinda dumb they aired a big wheel of fortune tournamnt week when like hardly anyone can even watch the finale cuz of all the sports preemptions.”
But a fourth fan suggested a cynical reason for the schedule change for both Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! “My best guess is this is a test to see how a high profile episode performs when the biggest availability is next day on streaming services and more people move away from linear TV for streaming,” they wrote.
Regardless of the reason, quiz lovers aren’t happy with the sudden schedule change. Tell us your reaction in the comments.
