Jesse Palmer has quite the history with The Bachelor franchise. From being one of the namesake bachelors to presenting the franchise’s shows, he’s seen his fair share of drama. Recently, he’s shared his thoughts concerning the most recent “Golden Bachelor,” Mel Owens, and a recent relationship development.
Jesse Palmer Was Asked About A Few Recent Exits On The Golden Bachelor
Palmer is a former professional football player who previously served as the Bachelor on the reality show’s fifth season. Back in 2021, he was named a permanent host on various Bachelor Nation shows.
This also includes The Golden Bachelor, which premiered its second season, with former professional football player Mel Owens as its lead, back in late September. Recently, Palmer has opened up about recent developments on the show.
Palmer was recently asked a few questions about his thought on certain moments during this current season with Entertainment Weekly. In particular, he was asked about his thoughts on Carol deciding to leave.
As fans know, Carol left with Week 5, thinking that things were going too fast and that Mel didn’t know her well enough to meet her family. Given The Bachelor‘s somewhat speedy process, some fans wondered if she made this decision too quickly.
However, Palmer defended Carol’s decision, feeling it was ultimately her decision to make. As he shared, “I respect Carol for her decision. At the end of the day, it’s a personal decision for her. And she followed her heart.”

A few other contestants have also since left the show amid Carol’s departure. Palmer also touched on Cheryl’s recent departure, noting, “I love Cheryl and was so heartbroken for her. She’s so sweet and deserves love.”
When a contestant is sent home on a Bachelor Nation show, fans wonder if they will see them again as the lead in another show, as has often happened in the franchise. When asked if fans might see Cheryl again, Palmer shared, “I think this cast of women was so amazing — we could have 23 leads!”
Palmer Also Felt There Was One Big Difference Between Mel Owens & Gerry Turner
Another figure who also recently left was Nicolle Briscoe, whose behavior had gotten some fans talking. As the outlet noted, the other women were concerned about telling Mel about her influencer ambitions, but this proved unnecessary. Nicolle herself was rather open to Mel about her ambitions.
In particular, Palmer was asked about her saying, “Give me a kiss for the camera,” on the show. He noted, “I was definitely surprised, and I wondered if Mel was taken aback by those comments as well. Nicolle mentioning the cameras sounds like someone who is too aware that they’re on a TV show.”
When weighing in on Mel himself, Palmer noted that he was taking things slow, especially comparing him to the previous “Golden Bachelor,” Gerry Turner. As he noted, “Love is a big word, and I think Mel is being careful not to use it too liberally.” That said, he acknowledged that this isn’t always a good thing, noting that the women also want validation.
