Jimmy Kimmel Live! has gone through quite a bit over the past year. Since then, an inside source suggested that Kimmel might not be happy behind the scenes, even after big news had come out concerning the show. In fact, it’s rumored he might already have his next show in mind.
Jimmy Kimmel Already Has Quite A Few Shows Under His Belt
To many, Kimmel is best known as the host of his namesake series, Jimmy Kimmel Live! This show has aired on ABC since 2003.
However, Kimmel has also worked on a number of shows throughout his career. These include The Man Show, Crank Yankers, and Win Ben Stein’s Money.
Recently, an inside source has suggested that Kimmel might already be interested in adding another well-known show to his resume and it is one game show fans know well. This came out after fans got a big update concerning Kimmel’s late show.
Taking to Instagram, Kimmel recently shared a screenshot of a Bloomberg article announcing that ABC extended his show for another year. As a caption, he wrote, “I am pleased to announce another no-talent year!”
Speaking with The National Enquirer, however, the insider suggested the situation was less than cordial behind the scenes. They shared, “The customary practice is for a series to get renewed for three or four years at a time, so Jimmy’s 12-month extension feels like a slap in the face.”
The source continued, “It’s a pretty clear signal that network bosses are at least contemplating replacing the show.” As the outlet noted, this also comes out amid various issues plaguing the show, from being briefly suspended back in September to President Donald Trump speaking out against the show.
As previously reported, Kimmel himself reflected on this during a recent episode. In his final monologue for 2025, he shared, “This has been a strange year. It’s been a hard year.”
The Insider Shared That Kimmel Could Use A ‘Fresh Opportunity’
The source now claims that Kimmel is looking forward. As the source shared, “Jimmy didn’t get the security he wanted with his latest contract renewal, which has him thinking ahead about what’s next. He has a lot of favors he could call in after so many years in Hollywood.”
The outlet previously shared that Kimmel could be interested in taking over hosting duties for Jeopardy! and its spin-off shows. This story came out around a time it was rumored that Ken Jennings was too cautious to ask for a pay raise from the show.

The insider also reflected that a new job could be what Kimmel needs right now, adding, “The clock’s ticking on his TV future. He needs a fresh opportunity.”
