Kate Gosselin Talks ‘Life-Altering’ Injury That Led To Hospitalization

Days after expressing her fear over a sudden health scare, Kate Gosselin has come clean about the cause. 

The “Jon & Kate Plus 8” alum, who was recently embroiled in infidelity accusations from her ex-husband Jon Gosselin and their son, Collin, had earlier raised concerns about being hospitalized. 

The medical emergency occurred shortly after she confirmed her relationship status. Now, she’s opening up about the events that led to it.

The TV personality updated fans on how she ended up in the hospital through a TikTok live broadcast. A screen recording of the broadcast showed Gosselin lying in bed with a nasal cannula across her face.

Explaining the accident, the reality TV star shared, “Meika, my puppy, ran into me full-speed ahead, and I ended up with a tibial plateau fracture and surgery with plates and pins in my leg.”

Gosselin recalled the chilling “opening line” from her doctor at 5 a.m., words that instantly grabbed her attention and drove home just how serious her injury was. “This is one of those things that is a life-altering event,” she recounted. 

She also shared details of her recovery, including using an ice machine for cold therapy, which would be sent home with her to aid healing. 

Describing the surgery as one of the “top three most painful” she’s ever had, she noted that she was on five pain medications, according to Page Six.

Before revealing the whole story, Gosselin posted a cryptic message alerting fans to her serious condition, asking for prayers without giving specifics. The Blast reported that she posted a snapshot of her hand connected to an IV line and clipped with a pulse oximeter to monitor her oxygen levels. 

In the text overlay on the picture, the 50-year-old wrote, “Please pray for me tonight and tomorrow. I will be fine, but I’m scared and would appreciate your prayers.”

The “Kate Plus Date” alum is no stranger to giving fans personal updates through her TikTok live sessions. During her Q&A session on her page on September 22, she announced that she was in a relationship, according to The Blast.

At the time, she didn’t disclose her partner’s identity but shared that the relationship had been going strong for over a year and was very meaningful to her. Later, sources confirmed that Gosselin’s partner is her former bodyguard, Steve Neild, and the couple is reportedly looking forward to getting married.

In a recent broadcast, Gosselin took to subtly flaunting himself as he made a brief appearance, handing her a latte while keeping his face from the camera. 

While Gosselin hasn’t shared many details about her new relationship or how they met, she previously opened up about her hopes for finding love again. According to The Blast, sources revealed that the mother of eight wanted to pursue romance away from the spotlight.

The insider said that Gosselin had tried dating apps but didn’t enjoy the experience. Instead, she hoped to meet someone “the old-fashioned way,” whether at a supermarket, a coffee shop, or through friends.

Kate stepped away from showbiz in 2022 to begin a new chapter in Troutman, North Carolina.

Kate’s revelation about her relationship unexpectedly reignited tension with her estranged husband, Jon who publicly suggested her affair was the reason their marriage ended.

As reported by The Blast, Jon posted an Instagram photo of Kate and Neild with a caption implying that Neild played a central role in the divorce. He also included a screenshot of a Page Six article confirming Kate’s entanglement with Neild, seemingly urging followers to take his side seriously.

Jon wasn’t the only family member expressing disapproval. Their 21-year-old son, Collin, also called out his mother on Instagram, accusing her of infidelity and claiming that her involvement with Neild dated back to 2009, when they allegedly shared hotel rooms during trips.

While Jon has spoken about his past with Kate, he appears to have moved on. He got engaged to his girlfriend, Stephanie Lebo, last year.

On November 23, 2024, Jon proposed at Lebo’s favorite restaurant in front of both families, making the moment especially meaningful.

He surprised her with a stunning emerald-cut diamond ring, and witnesses say she was moved to tears before happily saying yes. Rumors are now swirling about a possible wedding in November 2025.
