Kathie Lee Gifford recently surprised fans when she shared comments about religion. It came as a surprise to many, as she had often discussed her faith. The television personality, however, explained what she meant further during the conversation.
Kathie Lee Gifford First Became A Born-Again Christian At A Young Age
Gifford is a television personality known for her work with multiple shows. For around 15 years, she co-hosted Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee alongside Regis Philbin.
In 2008, Gifford became a co-host on the fourth hour of Today with Hoda Kotb. She left her main role on the show in 2019.
In her personal life, Gifford has shared that she grew up with Jewish traditions and has Jewish heritage, something she has shared her personal pride in. However, she became a born-again Christian at the age of 12. Gifford was also married to Paul Johnson, a Christian music producer and publisher, from 1976 to 1982. She also attended the private evangelical Oral Roberts University.
However, while speaking with Fox News Digital, Gifford recently shared some interesting views on religion. She started things out by noting, “The Bible talks about prayer without ceasing. Our life should be nonstop prayer, nonstop conversation, dialogue, and walk with our Lord.”
Gifford continued, noting complicated feelings about religion itself. She shared, “It’s not a religion. I am very anti-religion. Religion puts people in chains, and Jesus takes them away. So, I’ve always tried to be, and I am, the exact same person.”
Gifford Talked About Not Wanting To Have Separate Secular & Spiritual Lives
As Gifford continued, she noted that she doesn’t separate the secular life from her spiritual life. Taking a positive outlook on God’s will, she shared, “I don’t like to call them commandments, His teaching, His guidance. We live according to that.”
The television personality is known for her work with Childhelp, a charity set to aid neglected children. However, she felt it was important not to treat these aspects of herself as separate parts of her life.
Being a figure in Hollywood, Gifford noted that it’s a space where it’s difficult to have faith. However, she felt that she found comfort in Scripture, which she felt tells people not to worry about anything.
According to the outlet, Gifford also noted that she often catches people off guard with her faith. However, she shared, “I don’t care what people think. I care what He thinks. And a few hands, like maybe two hands full of precious friends who love me. I care what they think.”
