Kid Rock Torched Over ‘Hillbilly’ Halftime Show

Kid Rock may be excited about headlining Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” but social media users aren’t. In the comment section of a recent post sharing the news about Kid Rock, a proud Donald Trump supporter and conservative American, netizens slammed the right-wing organization and the musician over their “joke” of a show.

The pushback against Kid Rock and Turning Point comes amid backlash against the popular singer Bad Bunny after he was announced as this year’s Super Bowl halftime show performer. The negativity seems to be continuing after the singer’s appearance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, during which he spoke out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and their sweeping raids across US cities.

According to several sources, including Fox News and TMZ, Kid Rock is headlining Turning Point USA’s alternative Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, February 8.

The show is expected to consist of other artists, including Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.

Turning Point announced that the show would air on five networks plus its social media channels, including YouTube and X.

Kid Rock released a statement about the show through Turning Point USA, saying, “We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath. Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible…or is it.”

Speaking about Bad Bunny’s upcoming performance, Kid Rock added, “He’s said he’s having a dance party, wearing a dress, and singing in Spanish? Cool. We plan to play great songs for folks who love America.”

After news of Kid Rock’s involvement in the upcoming show was shared online, social media users weighed in with their unfiltered thoughts.

One user called Rock and the TPUSA organization “desperate,” while another predicted that the show would “be a mess.”

Another user questioned why TPUSA pursued Kid Rock “of all people,” while a fourth called the show “Hillbilly Halftime Antics.”

“This is literally racism,” someone else wrote, to which another called the halftime show a “joke.”

Kid Rock’s upcoming halftime show comes after the NFL faced criticism over its decision to have 31-year-old Puerto Rican global music superstar Bad Bunny headline the Super Bowl halftime show.

Donald Trump spoke out against the move during an appearance on Newsmax, saying he’d “never heard” of Bad Bunny before alleging that the singer “hates ICE.”

“I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s, like, crazy,” Trump said. “I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell fired back, though, standing by the league’s decision to spotlight Bad Bunny.

“I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism,” he said. “It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”

“It’s an important stage for us,” he continued. “It’s an important element to the entertainment value, and it’s carefully thought through.”

Before Super Bowl viewers get a chance to see Bad Bunny live during the halftime show, he made his presence known during this year’s Grammy Awards, shutting the house down in a striking black suit.

During his acceptance speech for Album of the Year, Bad Bunny used his moment to share a message.

“I’m gonna say, ICE out,” he said, according to The Blast. “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we’re humans, and we are Americans.”

He finished by adding, “The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love. So, please, we need to be different.”

On X, Bad Bunny received high praise from social media users who were moved by his statement during the Grammys.

One user said the singer’s message “cuts deep,” while another called him “brave” for taking a stance.

While accepting his AOTY award, Bad Bunny took a moment to share another message close to his heart.

“I want to dedicate this award to all the people that had to leave their homeland, their country, to follow their dreams,” he said.
