Kristin Cavallari had no pieces of information left undisclosed when she proclaimed a Laguna Beach reunion special publicly, the first time ever when the whole original cast will make a comeback together again after the end of the show. The plan she and Stephen Colletti had developed also had Lauren Conrad’s name signed to it. That was the time Cavallari was already taping the show while she was on her podcast, ‘Let’s Be Honest’, and made a confession.

The joyous tidings about the reunion were disclosed by the reality TV star through her social media, where she had been hinting at the existence of the project for quite a while. In a video accompanying her post, Cavallari stated that she and Stephen Colletti’s very first thought was to have a reunion in Cabo but that did not match with the producer’s vision and the looseness was one of the outcomes that they still managed to get the whole main cast together along with the original producer Liz Gately and, most importantly, Lauren Conrad.
A wave of nostalgia swept over the audience upon the former show cast being reunited, and various people were very enthusiastic about seeing the old cast members came together face-to-face after a long time. Even one person noted the high anticipation of the viewers and left the statement, ‘The world is healing when I see Lauren and Kristin on my TV screen again.’ The positive feedback was so much that their comment earned many likes and shares from people who felt the same way about the event too.
Cavallari’s announcement was mostly associated with the way she talked, in particular, the fact that she still pronounced the names and places exactly as she did on the show. A post that was shared and liked a lot stated, ‘It is still so iconic how you say ‘Stephen’ and ‘Cabo’.’ This finding triggered a burst of memories in the comment section where one person added that he/she always says ‘my car is donezo’ in his/her mind after thinking ‘Stephen’ – this was a reference to the show’s most memorable phrase.
The announcement couldn’t have been better in terms of raising hopes, as it hinted at something bigger than just a one-off special. It was straight out of a post, ‘Respectfully we need one whole season,’ that most of the fans, in addition, agreed on the matter of wanting more content. Another follower pointed out, ‘Respectfully; can we just like make it a reunion season?!’ thereby unveiling the audience’s strong wish that the event should be more than just one episode.
The axing of the Cabo reunion idea attracted a lot of attraction. A fan expressed, ‘The Cabo reunion should have happened. It was the best idea ever!! But to be fair, I don’t mind any location for the reunion.’ Another comment simply stated, ‘Cabo is Cabo,’ highlighting the fact that the place is still a major part of the show’s history.
Nevertheless, apart from the nostalgia, there were many people who were still excited to see the cast members’ transformations. One person said, ‘Obsessed, bring it on, I have so many questions, I watched in real-time when I was in high school.’ The same sentiment was echoed by another who wrote, ‘YAY!! Can’t wait. Hopefully, it will be a blast, a chill-out party with updates on everyone’s recording now!!’
What’s more, alluring propositions in the comments also includes a few, such as the one that asked, ‘So can we get him up to do the opening theme song since she’s also coming back to music?’, referring to Hillary Duff’s recent music comeback. Another person who was in the comments started singing ‘Come Clean,’ a Hilary Duff song, with the words ‘Let the rain fall down and wash away my dreams. Let it wash away my sanity.’
On the flip side, even though the uncertainty of how the audience will be able to view or listen to the show was not addressed in Cavallari’s post, international fans had already started asking. According to an Australian follower, ‘I’m in Australia, can somebody tell me where to watch/listen?’ – a question that reveals the show still has a fan base and the demand to watch or hear its content internationally is still there more than 18 years after its first airing.

The Laguna Beach reunion has now become a reality show that is more than just another part of the genre. It is the turn of millennials who had the series as part of their upbringing to always recall the connection among the characters. By managing to do the project and by having Lauren Conrad’s support as one of the provisions of the deal, hence the one who was very hesitant to take part, Cavallari had a great insight into why the mother program was so successful and therefore was very careful in the handling of the project. Not to sound overly sentimental but one comment expressed it elegantly, “This might be the thing that fixes everything wrong with me” thus pointing out the very strong emotional baggage that this reunion has the power of releasing among its devoted followers. The show is not only about moments that the viewer will look at and say ‘wow that brings back memories’ but even those who have been wondering about the characters for years will find a closure in the special. In a recent podcast episode, Cavallari also shared a wild story from her youth. She has been open about her past, even discussing her teenage belly button piercing experience. On the topic of personal challenges, Cavallari has also revealed her brutal epidural experience with childbirth. Beyond personal stories, she has even debated a love coach on the complexities of modern relationships.
