Kylie Jenner has had many ventures over the years, from media personality to businesswoman. At one point, she even dipped her toe in the rap genre. Recently, she’s returned to the genre with a new collaboration made with rapper Yeat.
Kylie Jenner Made Her Rap Return Around A Decade After Her Last Track
Jenner and her family became introduced to fans through the E! reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which ran from 2007 to 2021. Following this, they were the focus of the Hulu series, The Kardashians.
Over the years, Kylie has pursued a number of different ventures. She’s been a model, the founder of her own cosmetic company, Kylie Cosmetics, and a prominent social media influencer, being one of the most-followed people on Instagram.
Back in 2016, Kylie made a musical debut when rapping on producer Burberry Perry’s song “Beautiful Day,” alongside Lil Yachty, Jordyn Woods, and Justine Skye. While Kylie has appeared in a number of music videos over the years, she recently made her rapping debut around a decade later with a new song.
Recently, Kylie spit some bars on Yeat’s new track, “Let King Tonka Talk.” During the song, Yeat walks into a club and sees women throw themselves at him. At one point, Yeat mistakes a “brand new BBL” for Kylie. This is when the real Jenner makes her segue into the track.
‘King Kylie’ & ‘King Tonka’ Come Together For The Collaboration
A little less than a minute in, the star talk-raps, “Let King Kylie talk.” After “I just walked inside this club and all these bitches, yeah, they grabbin’ on me,” she whispers, “They could never.” Overall, her appearance on the track is around a ten-second cameo.
However, Kylie also worked a bit more “behind-the-scenes” on the track. In addition to being billed as a featured performer, she is also credited as one of its five songwriters.
The “King Kylie” label is a reference to the star’s era from 2014 to 2016, which reflected an era of self-expression. Many fans associate it with when she died her hair bright teal before her sister Kim Kardashian’s wedding to rapper Kanye West.
The name should also be on the minds of fans over the past year. Back in October, Kylie released the “King Kylie Collection” from her Kylie Cosmetics brand. This promotion also featured looks from that era on the packaging.
Of course, it also ties in well with Yeat’s alias, “King Tonka,” hence the name of the piece. The latter rapper, Noah Olivier Smith, is also known by other names by fans, including “Luh Geeky” and “Kranky Kranky.” When the rapper shared an Instagram post around the song’s music video, fans were quick to praise the two “kings.”
