Stephen Colbert is known for getting a reaction from his audience. Recently, his studio audience got especially upset during a recent monologue. This took place during a discussion of a recent email from President Donald Trump.
Stephen Colbert Briefly Read The Email With A Trump Impersonation During The Episode
Colbert is currently known for hosting The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which debuted back in 2015. Beforehand, he was known to audiences as the host of The Colbert Report for Comedy Central.
CBS recently announced that they would soon be retiring the Late Show franchise. Thanks to this, the final episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is expected to air on May 21, 2026. Before this, Colbert has still made headlines with episodes of his show.
During his monologue for this past Thursday’s episode of the show, Colbert discussed a fundraising email President Donald Trump shared with supporters. The recent email was titled, “Are you an illegal alien?”
Colbert felt, “That’s a weirdly accusatory greeting,” comparing it to a birthday card asking if you were a cannibal. He continued, “The only email subject line more shocking is the one that tells you all the hot MILFs in your area are only one mile from you and lonely tonight. What are the odds?”
The host connected the email to current events in Minnesota concerning ICE. This included the recent shootings of Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good.
Colbert then read the email while performing a Trump impression. The email, which claims Trump’s campaign is waiting on a response from the recipient, reads, Don’t tell me you’re an illegal alien. That cannot be true. This is your final moment to prove me wrong.”
Colbert Even Criticized The Email’s Fonts During His Monologue
One line in particular elicited a reaction from Colbert’s studio audience: “Are you a proud American citizen or does ICE need to come and track you down?” The crowd could be heard breaking out into loud booing.
Colbert then noted that the email felt more like “blackmail” than a fundraiser. The host continued to even criticize the email’s fonts as well as its “emotions.”

Colbert then compared the email to an Xfinity email that noted the recipient’s account is overdue and then asked, “‘Do you even love internet or do I need to kill you?’”
A clip of the monologue was recently shared on the show’s YouTube page. Since then, various viewers have shared their reactions to the post. Many compared it to a phishing scam, with one sharing, “I read it and sent 2500 to the prince of Nigeria.”
