Wilfrid Laurier University receiver Jesulayomi Ojutalayo and University of Ottawa defensive back Patrick Cumberbatch tied for the top vertical jump at the 2026 CFL Combine with leaps of 38 inches.

Ojutalayo has played 42 career games for the Golden Hawks, recording 66 catches for 1,090 yards and nine touchdowns. The six-foot-two, 217-pound target from Shelburne, Ont., has been especially effective on special teams, recording 37 total tackles.

Cumberbatch hails from Alexandria, Ont., and is the identical twin brother of current Redblacks defensive back Eric Cumberbatch. The six-foot-one, 194-pound halfback has collected 108 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups, and six interceptions in 36 games with the Gee-Gees, earning second-team OUA all-star honours this past season.

Other players who finished in the top five of the event include Northern Illinois University defensive back Cyrus McGarrell (37), University of Guelph running back Isaiah Smith (36.5), and University of Windsor receiver Tyriq Quayson (36.5).

The all-time vertical jump record for the CFL Combine was set by Bishop’s running back Jamall Lee in 2009 at 44 inches. He was selected third overall that year by the B.C. Lions and played for four seasons in the CFL after a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers, compiling 157 all-purpose yards and 23 special teams tackles in his career.

The next top performances all-time are Bishop’s running back Steven Turner in 2010 (43.5), Calgary receiver Anthony Parker in 2011 (43), and Concordia defensive back Kris Robertson in 2013 (43).

The top performer at the 2025 CFL Combine in Regina was Lauier defensive back Maliek Cote-Azore with a leap of 41 inches. He went unselected in the subsequent CFL Draft.
