Leakers claim next Pro iPhone will lose two-tone design

While some might appreciate the two-tone design of the iPhone 17 Pro series, it appears to be one of the more controversial aspects of the new phone.

The leaker Instant Digital posted on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, claiming that Apple is changing up the process it uses for the rear glass panel to make it blend in with the aluminum side rails.

As it stands with the current models, the deep blue colour seems fairly matched, but the Cosmic Orange model has two drastically different shades of orange, which will throw some people off.

That all said, while this leaker has accurately shared information in the past, they’re not always correct, and we’re still relatively far from the release of the iPhone 18 Pro, so things could change.

There are other rumours that the back glass might have some sort of slightly transparent design, but that seems a little more far-fetched to me. Having said that, I also thought a bright orange pro iPhone wouldn’t happen, and I was proven wrong last year, so Apple might be taking bigger swings now than I’m used to.

I’d attribute part of the success of the iPhone 17 Pro to its new design, but also the flashy orange colour. It really popped in the marketing and online, so I’d expect Apple to go bold once again for the next Pro in 2026. I doubt it will do orange again, but maybe a bright green or yellow could pop in the same way.
