Lisa Rinna Credits ‘RHOBH’ Exit For Saving Her Family

It seems like a case of a stitch in time saves nine for Lisa Rinna and her exit from the Bravo franchise!

The media personality proves everything related to the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” is completely behind her when she got candid about the show affecting her family dynamics while she was on it.

Lisa Rinna officially joined the main cast of the show in 2014 for its fifth season. She remained with them till season 13, after which she announced her exit following the expiration of her contract in January 2023.

The 62-year-old emphasized to Page Six Radio that it was not all sunshine and rainbows for her personal life during her time on “RHOBH.” According to her, there was a period of chaos in her life while on the show, and the dark cloud magically lifted as soon as she left that world behind.

In her words, “I think there was a bit of a black cloud over me for a while. And I think that can affect the entire family dynamic.” She accompanied this revelation with a strong “no” when she was asked if she would ever come back on the show.

Rinna added that she does not have to be a housewife to be entertaining, as she can absolutely do that on another show. While she was on the franchise, Rinna’s family, including her husband, Harry Hamlin, and their two daughters, were a constant face.

The reality TV queen went deeper into the intricacies of her exit from the show in the pages of her new memoir, which was released on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Rinna expressed that while it was ultimately her choice to step back from the show, she felt that the producers allowed it to happen by folding their hands.

She confessed that through it all, she felt like those who had been in her life through eight years of filming for the show ignored her when she announced her departure, although they had begged her stay in previous situations.

Rinna further addressed the issue during her appearance on the fourth season of “The Traitors,” noting that things were difficult for her towards the end of the show, but she was grateful for everything from start to finish.

The star shared the hard truth on “The Julia Cunningham Show” earlier in February about her departure from “RHOBH” eight years after she joined the cast.

The Blast shared that Rinna explained that the whole episode began at BravoCon when she hopped on stage in 2022 for the show’s panel, where she was booed by the audience.

The media personality described the moment as very choking for her and how it felt like everything came undone. “I couldn’t contain myself…I was acting out in so many ways. Everyone saw it. Everyone heard I…and you know, it’s the only thing I could do at that point, and I knew it was time to be done,” she stated.

She continued that she almost dropped the D word at the reunion, but she held on till she got home and sent an email about her decision to part ways with the cast and crew.

The “RHOBH” reunion was very pivotal in her exit as well, especially after Kathy Hilton was allowed to bring her publicist on stage, where they dissected the disagreement between Hilton and Rinna.

Shortly after the door of “RHOBH” closed, Rinna found her rhythm again on the set of “The Traitors,” but it did not come without its cons, which she described as the hardest job she has ever done.

As reported by The Blast, she described the show as a game that was physical, mental, and psychological, leaving her to manage food and sleep. She revealed intricate details about the challenges, noting that while they may seem easier to watch on television, it took hours of shooting to achieve them.

Rinna noted that traitors have to work longer than the faithful because it is secret, and once the faithful go home, the traitors have to go to the turret and do 18 hours of traitoring every day.

Rinna immediately won the hearts of the fans of the show with an interesting review for each episode she featured on the show before her exit. The vacuum from her leaving the show caused a discussion among fans who claimed the show had become boring without Rinna’s spark.

The media personality used her new book to set some facts straight about her personal life, especially about the speculations surrounding Hamlin’s sexuality, which has hovered over his head for decades. 

She clarified in her memoir “You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It” that Hamlin is heterosexual and has never had any sexual encounter with a man, in any way, shape, or form.

The Bravo alum admitted that she did not even become aware of the rumors until she joined the “RHOBH” in 2014, adding that the speculations increased once her personal life came under the lens of the cameras.

Rinna added that a specific choice in Hamlin’s career also fueled the rumors for decades after he portrayed Bart McGuire, an openly gay man entangled in a relationship with a married heterosexual character.

The plot of the 1982 film “Making Love” was definitely groundbreaking at the time, and it landed Hamlin on the pages of the blacklist for several years. He did not get a major movie role until 2023’s “80 for Brady.”
