The average length of marriage in the United States is around twenty years. LIVE hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been married for nearly thirty years. They often joke about the end of their marriage. But she might not be joking this time. Stay on this page to see his reaction when she asked for a divorce on-air.
Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Prepare For Halloween
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos earned another Daytime Emmy for their work on the ABC talk show. LIVE took home the award for Outstanding Daytime Talk Show. While Kelly and Mark were up for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host again after winning last year, the award went to first-time winner Drew Barrymore.
Kelly Ripa recently opened up about her disdain for one Halloween tradition. But that won’t stop her from dressing up in multiple costumes for the daytime talk show. LIVE with Kelly and Mark teased on social media that they have something big planned for viewers this year.
LIVE Host Asks Husband For Divorce Live On-Air
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary this year. They eloped in 1996 after dating for less than a year. Mark Consuelos recently opened up about their shocking breakup just before their Las Vegas, Nevada, wedding.
He recounted that he was upset back when they were dating when Kelly didn’t return his phone calls. They broke up over it, a decision he now says was “immature.” But they were forced together to promote the soap they were both starring on at the time, All My Children.
Coincidentally, the promotional job was on LIVE, which was then hosted by Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford. Despite his future wife’s attempts to avoid him, they eventually reconciled, and he proposed. She initially rejected his spur-of-the-moment proposal. They eloped to Vegas the next day after he convinced her that he truly meant it.
But nearly thirty years is a long time to be together, especially if you also work together. Kelly Ripa recently talked about needing time away from her husband. Now she thinks divorce is the answer.
She brought up the topic on the Wednesday, October 22, episode of LIVE. But Kelly Ripa doesn’t want a legal divorce. She wants an “airport divorce.” She’d read about the new fad where couples split up after arriving at the airport, do their own thing, and then reunite at the gate.
@deciderdotcom It looks like Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are going to get an “airport divorce.” #kellyripa #markconsuelos #kellyandmark
“I think we could do well with this: an airport divorce. [Because] you and I have different traveling philosophies and different traveling styles,” she said. Kelly Ripa joked that her husband likes to arrive at the airport “4 to 16 hours” before the flight leaves.
Mark Consuelos defended himself, saying he prefers to arrive 90 minutes early. Another issue for Kelly is his getting upset with her at the airport for no reason.
The two continued their banter until Mark joked, “Just watching married people quarrel on TV. It’s fun!” But Kelly Ripa wasn’t done. She threatened to continue the argument after the show. “You’re going down,” she told her husband.
Do you think an airport divorce sounds like a good idea?
