Kelly Ripa made headlines in October for her stance on rich kids in Manhattan, New York, acting greedy over Halloween candy. She shared a plan to put the candy in bags ahead of time instead of letting the kids choose their own candy.
Now it seems her husband is a Christmas Scrooge. During a recent episode, Kelly Ripa reminded viewers that the Black Friday sales were happening soon. Her husband said that she gets most of her Christmas shopping done before the post-Thanksgiving sale day.
After she admitted that she was behind on holiday shopping, he suggested they give “the gift of each other” this year instead of presents. “Kids are old now. I’m not getting them anything,” the Scream 7 actor added.
The LIVE hosts share three children: Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22. His wife was shocked by his Scrooge response to giving their kids presents for Christmas. Mark Consuelos suggested that maybe he’ll just give them money instead. “Give them like a check or something and say, ‘Merry Christmas!”

Gifts aside, Kelly Ripa shared a holiday tradition she tries to implement each year without any help from her husband. Like many families, the LIVE host buys matching pajama sets for the whole family. However, her husband and kids aren’t enthused about the idea and fight her every step of the way.
She blasted her husband for doing “nothing” during the holiday season. The very least he could do, she told him, was wear the pajamas. Kelly Ripa slipped up and added a swear word before “pajamas,” but was censored by LIVE producers.
“I’m like, ‘Look, I don’t ask for much. You’ve done nothing for this holiday. You’ve contributed nothing. You’ve purchased nothing. You’ve baked nothing. You’ve set nothing up. Put on the [censored] PJs,” she blasted her husband of nearly thirty years.
Mark Consuelos countered that he does help during the holidays, but not really in a meaningful way. He cleans up the wrapping paper from the presents. But he doesn’t wait until after the gifts are opened. “Quietly, as people are unwrapping, I put it in” the trash, he revealed.
Before we can celebrate Christmas, we have to get through Thanksgiving. Kelly Ripa admitted that she wasn’t ready for the holidays. She shared plans to “get out of dodge” despite plans to host Thanksgiving.
