Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos shocked the soap opera community by eloping in 1996. Very few people even knew they were dating. They’d met the year before when he joined the ABC soap All My Children as her character’s love interest.
They celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in May. The LIVE co-hosts share three children together: Michael, 28, Lola, 24, and Joaquin, 22. Their youngest son recently graduated from the University of Michigan.
Now he has to decide what to do next. The proud parents revealed on LIVE with Kelly and Mark this week that their son is considering moving to Los Angeles, California. Kelly Ripa said the family has been talking about the “pros and cons” of the different options. He might stay in New York City, where his parents live and work.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos can’t wait to be empty-nesters once their son decides where to live. The long-time married couple enjoys spending time together. They even purchased an Italian football team a few years ago. The recent ESPN docuseries Running with the Wolves followed them as they tried to turn the team into champions.

LIVE Mark Consuelos Opens Up About Painful Breakup With Wife
The All My Children co-stars kept their burgeoning romance to themselves. Their elopement was a huge shock to fans and their co-workers. But it almost didn’t happen.
During an appearance on The Skinny Confidential podcast last month, Mark Consuelos shared the story of a painful breakup with his now-wife right before they got married.
He told the host of the podcast that they had a fight and broke up in the week before they eloped. Mark Consuelos admitted the fight was over something silly, but took responsibility for it.
He was upset that Kelly Ripa wasn’t returning his phone calls, so they broke up. But he immediately regretted the decision. Coincidentally, it was a joint appearance on LIVE with Regis and Kathie Lee that brought them back together.
They went on the show to promote All My Children, but Kelly Ripa refused to talk to him off-camera. He eventually got her to agree to take a walk with him. They then went back to his apartment, where he proposed.
She told him to ask again when he’s serious. He was serious and suggested they go to Las Vegas the very next day and elope. The rest is history.
