Through social media and television shows, a lot of medical professionals have become celebrities in their own right in recent years. Thanks to this, many of them have crossed paths with all sorts of stars over the years. Recently, one well-known doctor had a story to share involving a rather surprising question from one such celeb. Interestingly, the star in the story has also weighed in on what happened.
The Doctor’s Story Was Brought Up During A Recent Podcast Appearance
Mikhail Oskarovich Varshavski is known to many as “Doctor Mike.” Originally born in Russia, this American family medicine physician moved to Brooklyn with his family when he was five years old.
Mike’s Instagram account went viral back in 2015 when People named him the year’s “Sexiest Doctor Alive.” He is also known for his YouTube channel, in which he shares medically themed videos, often debunking false medical claims.
Recently, Mike appeared on an episode of “The Basement Yard” podcast. At the time, he shared that he once received a message from a well-known actress, Kristen Bell, complete with a surprising question.
Many were first introduced to Bell through the series Veronica Mars. She is also known for her work in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Frozen, and the television series The Good Place.
During the podcast, Varshavski assured his hosts, Joe Santagato and Frank Alvarez, that this wasn’t a HIPAA violation revealing Bell’s name as this wasn’t an official patient consultation. He shared that the star had asked him about drinking urine, noting that a friend was allegedly doing it.
Looking at the camera, Varshavski then shared, “Kristen Bell, I can’t believe you really considered drinking urine.” He shared that he assured her this wasn’t a good idea.
Varshavski then revealed that the story had a twist: “It turned out that one of her castmates was actually tricking her into thinking she was drinking urine by creating drinks that looked like urine.” The podcasts noted that the castmate’s trick must have really been convincing for Bell to contact Varshavski, a social media star, instead of privately asking a medical professional.
Kristen Bell Also Shared Her Side Of The Story On Her Husband’s Podcast
Bell herself had previously talked about having contacted Varshavski. She shared this during an episode of her husband Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast in September.
During a joint appearance with Nobody Wants This co-star Justine Lupe, Bell noted that her castmate often messed with her during filming. In particular, she highlighted a moment when they were in a car with Adam Brody. She explained, “This entire experience was predicated on my nosiness. So I went, ‘What?’ And Justine goes, ‘Do you ever do this? Do you ever, like, the first urine of the day you drink again?’”
As noted by Page Six, Bell then commented that her co-star regularly brought in fake pee as part of the joke. She also shared that, after contacting him, Varshavski told her there were “a lot better ways to remineralize, like a multivitamin.”
