They tend to find a problem before the show premieres, but that only adds to the ratings. This time around, it has everything to do with Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird and her boyfriend, Darrin Kitchens. Mama June Fans Slam New Season, Pumpkin & Darrin
Last season on Mama June: Family Crisis, viewers saw the end of Josh and Pumpkin Efird’s six-year marriage. They had been together for a decade, but she realized that she had not been happy for some time. It did not matter that they had four children; she was in therapy and made it clear she needed to move on. Fans were blown away by this revelation, as they had no idea it had gotten to this point. She then popped up with Josh’s cousin, Darrin Kitchens, and that was blasted. How could Pumpkin date her husband’s cousin?
Josh and Pumpkin are officially divorced, and she has been happily in love with Darrin since 2024. In the promo for the new season, she introduces her new man, but viewers are not having it. They are repulsed seeing Darrin in Josh’s place, although Pumpkin’s ex-husband is still a presence. He is featured with their four kids, Ella, Bentley, Stella, and Sylus, plus he has a new baby. The idea that Darrin will be thrown in viewers’ faces is too much to handle, and it may be the last straw.
In the past, Mama June fans have threatened to boycott the show. However, they don’t, and it keeps coming back for more. They want to see how Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson is faring in Denver, Colorado. Moreover, they are curious about how Anna Cardwell’s girls are holding up after her passing. Regardless, Pumpkin and Darrin could be the final straw.
A Nasty Couple
Pumpkin Efird had been respected for the way that she stepped up and raised Alana ‘Honey Boo Boo’ Thompson. However, when she started dating Darrin Kitchens, that fell by the wayside. Fans compared her to Mama June, the way she cannot be alone, and is desperate for love. That could be a hindrance to the new season of Family Crisis, and viewers are not staying silent after seeing the first promo:
