Margaret Qualley Offers Insight Into Jack Antonoff Relationship

Actress and former ballet dancer Margaret Qualley has been happily married to songwriter and record producer Jack Antonoff since 2023. The couple largely keeps their relationship private, aside from occasional appearances at public events.

Qualley’s remarks offer a rare glimpse into the couple’s bond, revealing a more intimate portrait of their relationship.

Qualley and Antonoff are occasionally seen attending high-profile events, including movie premieres and awards shows, and their connection is hard to miss. However, they hardly talk about their relationship.

In a Vanity Fair cover story, however, the 31-year-old actress briefly talked about her husband.

“I’ve always been very love-oriented. I’ve always been looking for my person, and I met Jack,” she shared. Qualley, who is the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell and her now-ex-husband Paul Qualley, met 41-year-old Antonoff in 2021.

Although she didn’t provide further details, she did confirm that she “for sure” wants children with Antonoff. When asked whether she already had names picked out, she said, “If I did, I wouldn’t talk about it,” a remark that reflects how deeply she values her privacy.

Qualley began acting in her teens, and she understandably had fears at the time, which overwhelmed her.

“I felt like if I was fully myself, women would hate me and men would hurt me. And so that took away some of the tools that come with being a woman because I was scared,” she shared.

As she gained more experience, however, she figured out how to navigate life under the spotlight, adding that she now has “more control” in her life. “I can kind of lean more into the sensual and the feminine,” she added, crediting Antonoff for helping her gain confidence.

“Jack has helped me for sure, because he has made me feel more confident to explore all the parts of myself,” she said.

The publication noted that they received a text from Qualley, in part, saying, “I love my husband, my family… I love listening to Tara Brach and books on tape. And anything Jack writes…”

In an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2025, the “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” actress shared a bit about how her relationship with Antonoff began. It was her sister, Rainey, who introduced them at a party.

Rainey, a singer, said she was recording where Antonoff worked and heard that he was looking for “forever love,” which prompted her to tell the producer to date her sister.

On the night they met, Qualley said she and Antonoff “started talking and never stopped.” “Falling in love with Jack was the biggest feeling I’ve ever felt,” gushed.

Later on in the relationship, Qualley said it was Antonoff who said “I love you” first. She explained that she’s “very old-school” about romance, adding, “I would never put myself out there first. I never text twice,” following what she described as “Southern girl etiquette.”

After their marriage, however, Qualley said she can text her husband about anything at any time of the day. “We’re always having a conversation; he’s like my human diary,” she said.

Qualley and Antonoff first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted being affectionate while eating ice cream together in New York in October 2021. In March 2022, they attended the AFI Awards Luncheon, their first public event together as a couple.

In the months following, Qualley and Antonoff were each other’s dates at several other high-profile events, including the Critics’ Choice Awards and Grammy Awards, per People.

On May 30, 2022, an insider revealed that the two were engaged. Just days prior, Qualley was spotted at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a sparkling diamond ring on her finger. On May 31, the actress confirmed the engagement news by posting a photo of Antonoff and herself showing off her ring, writing, “Oh, I love him!”

Qualley and Antonoff married on August 19, 2023, in New Jersey. The bride opted to wear a simple custom silk halter dress paired with white Mary Jane flats, both from Chanel. The couple was captured with wide smiles as they walked hand-in-hand after the ceremony.
