Since then, rumors have come out claiming that she’s moved on to pursue a new political position with a presidential run. Since then, a few sources close to the story have broken their silence on the possible bid for the White House.
Marjorie Taylor Greene Announced Her Plans To Resign In Late November
Greene has been known for serving as the U.S. representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district following Tom Graves. She was selected to Congress back in 2020, and was reelected in both 2022 and 2024.
On November 21, Greene announced that she would resign from her U.S. House of Representatives seat, going into effect in early 2026. At the time, Greene cited issues with President Donald Trump over her views concerning Track AIPAC and the release of the Epstein files.
However, Greene has recently become the subject of rumors alleging that she plans to take her political career even further. These rumors claim she could join the presidential race in 2028.
Time had reported on this story, citing sources allegedly close to Greene. As the outlet reported, “The Georgia lawmaker has privately told allies that she has considered running for president in 2028.”
One Outlet Cited Two Anonymous Insiders As Their Sources
At the time, Time claimed this story came from “two people who have spoken with her directly about the prospect and three others familiar with her thinking.” These sources did not appear to be directly quoted in the story.
As it was also noted, it was rumored that this story was attached to current events. The outlet shared, “The possibility comes amid the dramatic rupture in Greene’s relationship with President Donald Trump, which contributed to her decision to announce on Friday that she would resign from the House of Representatives in January.”
At the time, however, it was noted that neither Greene herself nor a spokesperson for the congresswoman confirmed the story nor responded to requests for comments. However, NOTUS was cited for sharing previous claims that Greene had told people about her own plans for a presidential bid.
A Few Figures Close To The Story Have Since Responded To These Claims On Social Media
However, the story has since garnered a few responses online. This past Saturday, Greene’s eldest daughter, Lauren Greene Sanders, took to X to deny the claims that her mother was pursuing a presidential bid. Sharing a link to the story, she wrote, “This is a lie.”
Marjorie herself has also responded to the story on social media. Taking to X the following Sunday, she shared in a lengthy post, “TIME claims ‘sources’ told them I’m running for President in 2028, which means this is a complete lie and they made it up because they can’t even quote the names of the people who they claim said it. That’s not journalism, it’s called lying.”

Greene continued, noting, “I’m not running for President.” She noted that she “Never said I wanted to and have only laughed about it when anyone would mention it.” She also shared a screenshot of a post sharing the story claiming she had plans for a presidential run.

Explaining why she was not interested in running, she noted, “Running for President requires traveling all over the country. Begging for donations all day everyday to raise hundreds of millions of dollars. Arguing political talking points everyday to the point of exhaustion. Destroying your health and having no personal life in order to attempt to get enough votes to become President. All to go to work into a system that refuses to fix any of America’s problems. The fact that I’d have to go through all that but would be totally blocked from truly fixing anything is exactly why I would never do it.”
