Mark Consuelos Admits ‘Live’ Show Is Affecting His Sex Life With Kelly Ripa

Mark Consuelos has admitted that co-hosting “Live with Kelly and Mark” alongside his wife of 29 years, Kelly Ripa, is affecting intimacy in their marriage.

Ripa previously slammed her husband’s “disgusting” preference for morning sex, explaining that it’s not something she can keep up with.

The actress recently shared that she had considered calling it quits on her TV career, but Oprah Winfrey talked her out of it.

Consuelos has opened up about the toll presenting on TV alongside his wife, Ripa, has had on their marriage of almost 3 decades.

Although famous for their chemistry and playful banter on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” it appears presenting the show hasn’t come without some tradeoff, as Consuelos said it prevents them from being able to have morning sex.

“I’ve got to tell you, this job has really gotten in the way of that. It’s been the antidote for it,” Consuelos admitted on Tuesday’s episode of the show, per Page Six.

Their guest on the show, Christa Miller, took sides with the actress and revealed that she has the same issue as her husband, Bill Lawrence, who also likes morning sex.

“Bill, for the love of God,” Ripa said, looking into the camera. “On behalf of all of us here in the studio audience, there is absolutely no morning sex.”

Consuelos chimed in immediately, saying, “I don’t know, Bill. Something tells me you should go for it.”

During her July 2025 appearance on Amanda Hirsch’s “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Ripa spoke about how she finds Consuelos’s preference for morning sex “disgusting.”

“I don’t know about you, in your marriage, but I’m going to go personal. Are you an evening person or a morning person?” Ripa asked Hirsch at the time, to which the podcast host replied, “Definitely evening. Do not breathe on me in the morning.”

The “All My Children” alum then revealed that Consuelos wants to have sex “only in the morning,” but she “find[s] it disgusting.”

“I said to him, ‘Here’s the thing,'” she explained at the time. “‘There needs to be a yin and a yang here. It can’t always be your way. ‘Cause it feels like 90 percent of the time it’s your way. And now that we work together every day, it’s gonna have to sometimes be my way, and my way’s at night only.'”

Ripa also called their TV show a “miracle” since it inhibits having morning sex for them.

“The greatest thing about this job, this thing has like, almost repulsed him from morning time during the work week,” she said.

“May this show last until he suffers from erectile dysfunction,” the TV personality joked about her sex life.

She continued, “He’s in his mid-50s now. Shouldn’t that be happening now? I was promised!”

Ripa has remained a regular fixture on TV for more than 25 years, and has worked alongside everyone from Regis Philbin and Michael Strahan to Ryan Seacrest and Consuelos. However,  she recently admitted that her enduring career may not have been a reality as she has considered leaving “Live!” a couple of times.

However, she explained that Oprah Winfrey talked her out of it and convinced her of how her type of show needs to remain on television.

“Let me give Oprah credit,” Ripa told Variety. “She left her show at the 25-year mark, and I said to her, ‘Should this be my signal?’ She’s like, ‘Don’t leave. Don’t do it. Right now, you’ll regret it.'”

“‘With you and Mark, the dynamic, the show is more important than ever. People really relate to it, and they need that in this world of a lot of darkness and an endless 24-hour, never-ending news cycle,'” Ripa said of the advice Winfrey gave her.

However, Ripa was seemingly unsatisfied and went back to the veteran presenter to inquire when the ideal time for her to pull the plug is.

“I need to actually ask her, ‘You said not to leave at 25, but what year? What are we thinking? Give me an idea of how far beyond 25 I should go,'” Ripa said. “But I always say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. We are really having a very good time.”

Elsewhere in her conversation with the news outlet, Ripa spoke about her early days on tv when she filled in as a guest co-host alongside Regis Philbin while the show sought people to replace Kathie Lee Gifford.

At the time, she was starring on “All My Children” and said she wasn’t looking for the job, but after trying it the first time, she said, “There was an audience response to me.”

“I really never thought about it again, and then I got a call right away to come back and do it again,” she explained. “The rest was history. I think, by December, they were already negotiating my contract. It was very fast. I think I had hosted three times, and then they signed me to a contract.”
