Films are there to entertain, also to entice your senses, your emotions. MUBI have released the official Trailer for Mascha Schilinski‘s Sound Of Falling that promises to play on your emotions.
The film debuted back at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, leaving the festival with Jury Prize (jointly won with Sirat). Now we’re at the opposite end of the year in the Awards season and the film has been selected to be Germany’s Best International Film representative.
Sound Of Falling (or In die Sonne schauen in German) is described as generational drama set over four time periods. Following four girls who spent their youth on a North German farm. Separated by time the girls lives start to mirror each other revealing secrets that should be kept hidden.
This in a way is a coming of age drama echoing the lives of young women everywhere, a kinship of sorts in sisterhood. A haunting unsettling drama, that might not be for everyone unless you call yourself a cinephile.
