A Massachusetts couple is in hot water following the story they gave of an abandoned dog and their role in the situation. So, what happened with this, and what is going on with the couple and the dog now?
Abandoned Pets Are Often At The Center Of Sad Stories
Abandoned pets are always a tough subject for a lot of people to deal with, especially for animal lovers. In many cases, owners move away and leave their pets behind, without going through the proper channels or making sure that the pet in question has a home secured before they leave for good.
In many other cases, dogs are found tied to a tree in the woods, thrown away in a dumpster, or out of moving vehicles. These stories are often tragic, heartbreaking, and a lot for people to try to stomach, especially for pet lovers across the globe.
Massachusetts Couple Claims To Have Found Dog On The Side Of The Road
Based on the latest news making the rounds, a Massachusetts couple claimed that they found a puppy on the side of the road. The Attleboro Police Department “received a report of a 6-month-old female Yorkshire Terrier that had been abandoned at the Seasons Corner Market on Washington St. in South Attleboro on Monday, Sept. 22.”
The couple in question brought the animal into the store and left it with a clerk at roughly 1:40 am because they “did not know what to do with it,” according to police. The man and woman alleged that they found the animal in a cage on the side of the road, and that there was a “Free” sign attached to it.
It turns out, the clerk eventually gave the dog to a good Samaritan, who was later tracked down by police. It was later determined that the good Samaritan turned the animal over to Attleboro Animal Control in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Truth Behind Couple Who Allegedly Found The Dog
Upon further investigation, police determined that the couple fabricated the story about finding the animal on the side of the road. Even though the names of the husband and wife have not been released, they allegedly admitted to receiving the animal from a co-worker.
From there, when the woman brought the animal home to her husband, he said he did not want it and that they could not keep the animal. While the couple did fabricate the story about how they came across the animal, it’s not enough to press any charges.
