Matt James has officially declared his chocolate chip cookie choices in Toronto. The reality TV star and food lover conducted a cookie crawl and revealed the results, making three bakeries the clear winners. His proclamation has given birth to an argument that has been going on for quite some time between the locals and the cookie connoisseurs, with many people choosing either to support his choices or suggest their favorite spots.

In a long video, James made the cookie tour very inviting. He first visited Butter and Spice, giving them huge compliments for their handmade gelato and slowly describing the cookie that was rich buttery, thick with a moist center, and a crunchy edge that was so satisfying. He enlightened the audience that their toffee cookies were also pretty good and went on to call them thin with a soft inner and a crunchy outer, thus perfect for ice cream sandwich making DIY.
Next on the list for James, who had just come from the previous stop, was Courage Cookies which is very close by. Although the different flavors were clearly very appealing to him, it was the classic chocolate chip that at first struck him the most. After that, he couldn’t help sampling the toffee caramel cookie which left him in a merry muddle of trying to consider which was the best. He finally made the whole thing a highlight of his day.
The last stop and the one that appeared to be the star of the tour was Le Gourmand again. James gave this place a very nice critique and especially pointed their chocolate chip and toffee cookies out. He spoke of the proper combination of flavor, texture, soft and warm chocolate ratio and even the cold glass of milk that arrived at the table got an extra mention from him. He was already urging those who are very much against him on this one to visit and draw their own conclusions.
Right after the post, the comment section was full of life like the place where the cookie debate among Torontonians was going on. A user very passionately wrote ‘Le Gourmand is the best!!!’ and this was along with a lot of support for James’s top pick. Quite a few people had the same view, another user, for instance, commented, ‘Le Gourmand, all day everyday…🔥’ The bakery’s own account even got involved, thanked James for coming and promised another visit.
The list was heavily criticized and people kept on pointing out what was missing and at the same time, there were those who were disagreeing with the omission. ‘You missed @robertstreetcookies – as a sweet tooth born and raised here and also lived in NYC- I can tell you they are…).’ was one person’s comment. ‘Yessss you also gotta try @romis_to chocolate chip cookie – bit of a trek but SO worth it.’ was another one.
Without a doubt, Andrea’s Cookies was the one that got the most mentions. Many people labeled it ‘criminal’ that it was not included in the list. Little by little complaints came: ‘Can’t trust this list cause @andreascookies is missing. SMH.’ James was right there in the conversation and sometimes he even personally replied to these suggestions and even told he had tasted Andrea’s Cookies at a Blue Jays game and promised they were ‘solid.’
Craig’s Cookies had people’s reactions divided right down the middle. Some people were quite adamant that James should try them, while others were very loud in their disagreement. One of the most detailed comments was, ‘CRAIGS COOKIES are so basic… this man is a foodie. If you’ve had Le Gourmand, Craigs cookies wouldn’t be on the map. Respectfully. Le Gourmand cookies are the real deal. Craig’s cookies taste like frozen pillsbury cookies that you make yourself.’ James responded to the argument with grace, acknowledging the differing palates while still showing loyalty to his favorites.

Glimpses of the wealth of the bakery scene in Toronto were given by the other recommendations like gluten-free options at The Wild Blue Bakery and pies from Wanda’s Pie in the Sky. The discussion showed that while James had made an indisputable initial point of the best chocolate chip cookie in Toronto being still up for grabs, the search for that cookie was a Josephinesque debate having many strong contenders. He unintentionally created a guide that would present a delicious task to both the locals and the visitors. The hunt for the perfect cookie in Toronto has turned out to be a love affair with many victors. Matt James has also been known to celebrate a marathon with a unique twist, and he once received a bizarre brown paper bag for leftovers in the city. Furthermore, he has revealed his top pancake spots and shared his simple goal for the Chicago Marathon.
