Fans have been following Steve McBee Sr.’s legal issues since he announced he would plead guilty to crop insurance fraud last year. Recently, one of the McBee Dynasty star’s sons has weighed in as his father is starting his expected two-year prison sentence, including a call to President Donald Trump. This also comes out as the family patriarch has spoken to various outlets about his situation.
One Of Steve McBee Sr.’s Sons Spoke About His Father During An Instagram Story Share
On The McBee Dynasty, viewers initially followed Steve McBee and his family, including his sons, Steven Jr., Jesse, Cole, and Brayden.
However, things took a turn for the family when the family patriarch pleaded guilty to crop insurance fraud in 2024. After being set to surrender himself to authorities at the start of December, Steve McBee Sr. is expected to start a two-year prison term in South Dakota.
Since then, one of Steve Sr.’s sons took to social media to share his hope that his father could get an early release. Taking to Instagram Stories, Cole McBee wrote, “I’ll never forget what our justice system has done to our family. It’s so wrong and now my daughter won’t see her grandpa for we don’t know how long.”
Cole also called on President Donald Trump himself in the post. As he continued, “We will not stop fighting for the truth. This is wrong and @realdonaldtrump will fix this when he sees the facts and not just a local trophy prosecution.”
Steve McBee Sr. has also spoken out about the situation. While talking with Fox News Digital, he noted that “it was a sobering moment” when he learned he would be going to prison.
The McBee Dynasty Star Shared That He Spoke With Another Reality Show Patriarch About His Situation
While weighing in on the decision to plead guilty, Steve shared he was told that another “teammate” or “co-worker” would be charged “with 27 federal indictments in 48 hours.” Dubbing this a “bullying technique,” he shared he decided, “I made the decision the buck stops with me.”
With the story, many fans are comparing the situation to Chrisley Knows Best stars Todd and Julie Chrisley. Back in June 2022, the reality show stars were found guilty on federal charges, including bank fraud and tax evasion. After being sentenced to a combined nineteen years behind bars, the pair were pardoned by President Donald Trump back in May 2025.

Notably, back in November, Steve had shared that he actually found support in Todd as he prepared for his own prison sentence. At the time, Steve shared that he met the Chrisley Knows Best star during a podcast appearance.
Speaking with People, Steve claimed that Todd gave him a “1,000 tips” and regularly checked up on him. As he noted, “He’s texted me every other day, like, ‘Checking on you, buddy. How are you feeling today? It’s going to be okay. Everything’s going to be all right. We’re going to get through this. I’m going to help you any way I can.’”
Steve also wrote that Todd spoke with his sons. As he shared, “Todd texts all of my boys telling them they’re going to be okay.”
On his own Instagram account, Steve Sr. also shared his “last video” before turning himself in to authorities. At the time, Steve shared that Cole would manage his phone and told fans to stay tuned in. He also wrote, “Thank you all for the love and support of our farm and family.”
