Fans of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys have been following updates concerning star Steven McBee Sr.’s sentencing after he was charged in an insurance fraud case. Recently, the McBee family patriarch has been sentenced. The star now faces time behind bars.

Steve McBee Sr. Was Previously Expected To Be Sentenced Back In March, But It Was Delayed Several Times

Viewers came to know Steven McBee Sr. and the McBee family through the reality series, The McBee Dynasty. This series followed the family and their cattle and farming business in rural Missouri. For the second season, the series moved to Bravo.

Back in November, McBee pleaded guilty to one count of federal crop insurance fraud. He was originally slated to be sentenced back in March. However, the sentencing ended up being rescheduled multiple times.

Recently, Steve was sentenced in the Kansas City, Mo., district court on October 16. The proceedings were presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Stephen R. Bough. Prior to this recent sentencing, McBee faced up to 30 years in federal prison without parole.

This past Thursday, the McBee family patriarch was sentenced to two years behind bars. In addition, he was sentenced to another two years on supervised release following this.

McBee will also pay $4,022,124 in restitution. According to People, he must self-surrender before 2 PM on Monday, December 1, 2025.

Steve McBee Sr. Also Recently Made A Surprise Return To The Show Back In August

Prosecutors previously asked that McBee face a sentence of 41 months in prison, with three years of supervised release. They also sought $4 million in restitution, as well as a $3.1 million money judgment, according to court documents.

The Department of Justice previously claimed that McBee’s fraud cost the government around $4,022,123, which reflects the amount McBee is currently expected to pay. Back in September, he was also ordered to hand over three designer watches to the government as he waited to be sentenced.

This order reflected a U.S. code that allows courts to collect “all property, real and personal, constituting, or derived from, proceeds traceable to the offenses, directly or indirectly, as a result of the violations alleged.” These watches, described as a Tag Heuer Formula 1 watch, a Tag Heuer Grand Carrera watch and a Rolex Daytona, reportedly served “as substitute assets in partial satisfaction of the money judgement.”

During this time, fans of the reality series have also speculated on how the sentence could further impact the show and the McBee family going further. As previously reported, it is believed that McBee’s four sons will not be charged regarding the fraud case, per Steve Sr.’s plea deal. Steve Sr. himself also made a surprise return to the show during an episode released on August 11, 2025.
