Megyn Kelly has a background in being a broadcast journalist as well as an online one. Recently, she highlighted this when comparing the two. In particular, she felt that some media figures were becoming too similar to podcasters, addressing one network in particular.
Megyn Kelly Discussed A Few News Programs With Guest Piers Morgan
Kelly is a Fox News personality known for hosting a number of programs over the years, such as The Kelly Files. Currently, she is known for hosting her own Sirius XM and radio show, The Megyn Kelly Show.
Through her show, Kelly has often discussed various figures in the media, both other Fox News colleagues and beyond. Recently, she weighed in on a few CNN programs, noticing a few recent changes to the network’s shows.
As Kelly noted, Anderson Cooper could be seen sitting at a desk with him and his guests in front of large microphones. Meanwhile, Jake Tapper appeared to be doing his show live from a personal office desk.
As a podcaster herself, Kelly noticed the similarities between these programs and her own show. While speaking with guest Piers Morgan on her show, Kelly felt that the network was trying to imitate such podcast shows to replicate their popularity.
Kelly shared, “It appears they are jealous of your numbers and possibly my own. It’s incredible what they are doing. They’ve decided that if they try to make Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper and their sets look more like they are podcasters and in digital media, people will start listening to them again.”
Morgan Also Weighed In On Why He Thinks People Were Turning Towards Online Journalism
Kelly also felt that these media personalities were “cosplaying as podcasters.” In particular, she highlighted, “Jake Tapper literally did his show from his office with his panels squeezed in on his little couch because he says that’s where they do their actual journalism.”
A clip was then played of Tapper at his desk, where he acknowledged that viewers might be confused about his setting. At the time, he claimed that this was where he did his “actual work,” not his studio desk. Saying that this was also the case for his “team,” he felt that the network was giving things a “shot.”

For his part, seeming to agree with Kelly’s sentiments, Morgan felt that “Imitation is the best form of flattery.” He felt, however, “They are trying to look like us, but they don’t.”
Morgan also weighed in on why people were becoming more attracted to online journalism. As he shared, “We’re our own bosses. We say what we believe in the moment.”
