Miley Cyrus Reveals ‘Dorkiest’ Reaction To Her Engagement

The “Hannah Montana” star opened up about her relationship with the Liily band drummer in a recent interview, raving about how their engagement came at the “perfect time” in her life.

Before confirming the big news, Miley Cyrus had kept fans on their toes by flaunting her unique engagement ring until her soon-to-be father-in-law finally let the cat out of the bag.

Cyrus attended the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards on Saturday, January 3, where she got candid about her relationship with Morando in an interview. When asked if she liked introducing her beau as her fiancé, Cyrus confessed it was the opposite.

“Oh, I get so cringed out. I’m kinda dorkiest with stuff like that,” the entertainer explained. Although she does not like using the fiancé label, Cyrus has no problem raving about her love for Morando and how he proposed at the “perfect time” in her life.

Cyrus told Entertainment Tonight that Morando popped the big question amid her collaboration with James Cameron for the latest installment of the “Avatar” movie franchise, “Fire and Ash.” She created the soundtrack “Dream as One” for the project, claiming it “perfectly aligned” with the film’s theme and her love life.

A month before her latest confession about her engagement to Morando, The Blast reported that Cyrus had spilled the tea about the proposal. She explained that she wasn’t easy to surprise, but Morando had managed to beat her at her own game.

Cyrus confessed that she was “so, so, so surprised” when Morando popped the big question during their trip to Asia. She also flaunted the unique ring he gifted her, declaring that he “did good” by choosing the design and the timing of the proposal.

The “Flowers” hitmaker explained that her engagement to Morando “perfectly aligned” with her career because it became the inspiration behind the soundtrack for Cameron’s movie. She noted that she immediately started working on the song once she returned from the trip.

As stated, Cyrus did not publicly confirm her engagement to Morando until her soon-to-be father-in-law spilled the tea. The Blast covered the story last December, reporting that the drummer’s father had shared the update on Instagram.

A fan took screenshots of his congratulatory post to the couple and shared them on X, drawing more attention to the engagement. Cyrus had sparked fans’ curiosity days earlier when she attended the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” Los Angeles premiere with Morando.

The lovebirds posed for pictures together, with Cyrus drawing attention to the massive ring on her wedding finger. Internet sleuths soon realized that this wasn’t the first time she had flaunted the jewelry, as it was seen on the same finger at her 33rd birthday bash.

According to a report by The Blast, Francesca Simons, who represents jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, confirmed that Cyrus’s engagement ring came from the famous designer. The jewelry featured a cushion-cut stone set on a thick 14-karat gold band.

Other jewelry experts weighed in on Cyrus’s unique ring, with Blue Nile’s Daniela Tarantino believing it cost between $300,000 and $450,000. However, Reyne Hirsch, a former Antiques Roadshow appraiser, estimated that the jewelry’s value was lower.

According to Hirsch, Cyrus’s engagement ring could be valued from $150,000 to $250,000, depending on the gem’s “color and clarity.” Diamond expert Kristy Cullinane echoed similar sentiments, suspecting the jewelry’s value was around “$200,000+ for a mined diamond or $15,000 for a lab-grown diamond.”

Last month, The Blast shared that an insider had weighed in on Cyrus and Morando’s plans for their upcoming wedding. They claimed the lovebirds might not follow the conventional route because they wanted something more personal.

According to the insider, Cyrus and Morando were more likely to “celebrate in their own way” by doing “something fun and meaningful that feels very special to them.” There was also the possibility of the couple eloping and celebrating their union privately.

The insider added that Cyrus was enjoying the engagement phase and wasn’t in a rush to tie the knot to Morando. “She’s not super into the idea of doing another wedding,” the insider explained, referencing the singer’s 2018 union with her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.
