When most people raise their kids, they want them to have better lives than the previous generation had. Based on the latest updates making the rounds, a man from Mississippi is in hot water after he admitted to stealing from his 4-year-old son. So, what happened with this situation, and what do we know so far?
Most Parents Want A Better Future For Their Children
It goes without saying, most of the time, that the vast majority of parents want a better future for their children. The general idea is that things improve little by little with each generation that passes. For a lot of parents, this means doing their best to provide their children with things they never had.
One of the ways that a lot of parents ensure that their children will have an advantage is by setting aside some type of savings account for them. Whether it be a college fund or an account that they can only have access to once they reach a certain age, this is one of the ways that parents set their children up for success.
Mississippi Man Steals From 4-Year-Old Son
According to the latest updates from PEOPLE, a man from Mississippi is under fire after he admitted to stealing thousands of dollars from his four-year-old son’s savings account. Christian, a 28-year-old postal worker from Biloxi, Mississippi, recently spilled the tea on a podcast that he went through his son’s savings account to the tune of thousands of dollars.
Initially, Christian paid for things like family trips on his credit cards. However, because of the nature of credit cards and the high interest that they tend to carry, he decided to dip into his son’s savings account instead, eventually cleaning it out.
According to PEOPLE, he “raided his 4-year-old son’s savings account, which contained “$8K-$10K,’ to pay off the credit cards immediately. He noted that a portion of the money in the account had come from friends and relatives who intended that the money be used for the child’s future.”
Christian admitted this on the Financial Audit podcast with Caleb Hammer, and there is a firestorm of comments criticizing this young dad for these selfish financial moves, especially because a lot of this money was given by friends and family, with the intention of it going toward the child. He also revealed that he did not tell his wife what he did.
- One commenter said, “Like stealing candy from a baby. Except you’re stealing from your literal baby.”
- A second commenter added, “This man is scary. He has the same job as me, makes the same amount of money and has the same vice. The only difference is that I don’t have a wife and child. This video feels like a massive wake up call. Thank you.”
