The Montreal Alouettes have made Canadian offensive lineman Pier-Olivier Lestage one of the CFL’s highest-paid non-quarterbacks on his new contract, which runs through 2028.
According to league sources, Lestage will earn $240,000 in hard money in 2026, plus an additional $6,000 in potential all-star incentives. His annual compensation will increase to $250,000 in 2027 and $260,000 in 2028 with the same all-star incentives available in both years. $40,000 of his salary is guaranteed in 2028, providing him long-term security.
The 28-year-old made 17 starts at left guard for the Alouettes in 2025, helping the team reach the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg. He was named All-East Division for the first time in his CFL career. He is now in the CFL’s elite tier of compensation for offensive linemen, joining players like Ryan Hunter, Drew Desjarlais, and Logan Ferland.
The native of Saint-Eustache, Que. was initially a second-round pick in the 2021 CFL Draft out of the Université de Montréal. He signed with the Alouettes in 2022 following a stint with the Seattle Seahawks and has since played 64 regular-season CFL games, helping Montreal win the 110th Grey Cup in 2023.
“We are very happy to be able to count on Pier-Olivier’s services for the next three years; this is excellent news for our football club,” said general manager Danny Maciocia in a statement. “I’ve known Pier-Olivier since his days in university, and he has a contagious work ethic. He is a big presence in our locker room.”
The six-foot-three, 312-pound blocker was recently ranked 3DownNation’s No. 23 top pending CFL free agent. His contract extension was negotiated by Montreal-based agent Sasha Ghavami.
The Montreal Alouettes finished second in the East Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record and beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the East Final before losing the 112th Grey Cup to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Davis Alexander went 7-0 as a starter during the regular-season, though he missed 11 games due to a hamstring injury.
The Alouettes ranked eighth in net offence, first in net defence, and third with a turnover differential of plus-eight. The club’s leading rusher was Stevie Scott III with 418 yards, leading receiver was Tyler Snead with 1,129 yards, and leading tackler was Darnell Sankey with 103 tackles. Montreal finished sixth in attendance with average crowds of 21,132, which was a 0.8 percent decrease from the previous year.
