Viewers recently saw MSNBC undergo a major shift as it became MS Now. Recently, a big change has been announced for the network’s morning show, Morning Joe. This also comes out as one figure is making their exit from the network.

Morning Joe Previously Went From Three To Four Hours In 2022

Morning Joe first made its debut on MSNBC in 2007. The show remained on the network as it transitioned into MS Now.

Over the years, viewers have seen multiple changes to the show’s format. In 2022, for example, the show was extended by a fourth hour. At the time, the extension took the place of Stephanie Ruhle Reports, after the namesake host moved to The 11th Hour.

News has come out, however, that the morning show, which is hosted by spouses Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, will lose an hour going forward. As Radar Online noted, this was one of MS Now’s first major programming changes since spinning off into a new media company.

MS NOW president Rebecca Kutler announced the change, which will take effect in June. The morning show will cut back to three hours.

Ruhle, who currently hosts The 11th Hour at night, will take over the network’s 9 AM and 10 AM hours for a two-hour mid-morning program. Weekend host Ali Velshi will serve as the new host of Ruhle’s old show.

Ana Cabrera, who previously anchored the 10 AM news, will make her exit from the network. Taking to X, she shared on social media that she wanted to “make a change.”

The MS NOW President Expressed Hope That This Change Could Improve The Network’s Lineup

Cabrera shared, “Throughout my career, I’ve always sought the best opportunities to do this work and have the greatest impact, while staying true to myself and my mission as a journalist. My goal has always been to educate and inform and shine light. To hold people in power accountable, people on all sides of the political aisle, and non-politicians as well.”

Cabrera continued, “To bring you compelling stories from across a broad range of news. And to always seek the truth, following the facts wherever they lead. That’s what I’ve always done. And what I will continue to do.”

As the outlet shared, Kutler expressed hope that these changes will help the morning show in the long run. She continued, “I am confident that these changes will make what is already a successful lineup even stronger in the future. We are fortunate to have so many exceptional journalists on our air, online, and behind the scenes.”

Kutler also teased adding more staffers. She shared, “As part of these programming changes, team members will have the opportunity to shift into new roles to support new priorities. In most cases, comparable opportunities will be available to employees as these changes take shape. Overall, we expect to have more people working at MS NOW by the end of 2026 than we do today.”
