YouTube star Rachel Accurso, aka Ms. Rachel, recently came under fire for liking a controversial statement on social media, with her later issuing an apology. However, some groups have criticized her response, with her even having been accused of playing a “victim.” Recently, a political figure was even urged to keep his distance from her. Keep reading for further details.
The Ms. Rachel YouTube Channel Originally Launched In 2019
Rachel Anne Accurso, also known as Ms. Rachel, is a music teacher turned YouTuber. Launching her channel in 2019, she is famous for the Ms. Rachel, or Songs for Littles, series, which encourages children’s language skills through music.
However, Accurso recently came under fire after sharing an apology video on social media. At the time, she reportedly claimed to have liked a controversial statement on social media.
In a recent video on her channel, Accurso tearfully admitted to liking a comment calling for America to be “free from the Jews.” At the time, she claimed this had been an innocent mistake, insisting she “accidentally” liked the comment when she meant to “hide” it.
At the time, Accurso shared, “I would never agree with an antisemitic thing like the comment. We have Jewish family; a lot of my friends are Jewish. I delete antisemitic comments.” She further commented, saying she was “human” and that it was okay to make “mistakes.”
Attention Was Also Brought To Accurso’s Work With New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani
Then, however, the influencer appeared to endorse another “antisemitic trope” put forward by an account called “thepalestinenewsnetwerk.” It claimed the original antisemitic comment was posted to entrap her. The comment read, “Spoiler alert: They left the comment themselves.” Accurso replied, “Oooooo00000hhhhh.” Screenshots of the comment have since circulated on social media.
However, Accurso’s response and further comments have been criticized by various groups. StopAntisemitism’s founder, Liora Red, shared, “Ms. Rachel doesn’t answer the criticism, she cries and plays the victim. She ignores Jewish concerns, Jewish constituents, and blows off antisemitism for a publicity stunt.”

While speaking with The New York Post, Rez continued, “Pushing one-sided political narratives, and then calls accountability ‘bullying.’ That’s not leadership. That’s exactly why she shouldn’t be anywhere near a mayor’s office.”
This latter comment was in reference to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has been pressured to distance himself from Accurso. Previously, Accurso was appointed to Mamdani’s inauguration committee, having appeared with him at a Manhattan Pre-K center earlier this week. As the outlet noted, Jewish groups have since called on Mamdani to distance himself from Accurso.
Even if “they” left the comment themselves… no one forced her to like it???? https://t.co/TS1FjETX0C

The organization was also critical of Accurso’s posts concerning conflict in Gaza. At the time, she was found to have posted about children in Gaza nearly 50 times. By contrast, it was noted she had nearly no posts concerning children from Israel, Ukraine, or Sudan.
