Matt Damon and Ben Affleck question who they can trust in the first official trailer for The Rip.
Directed and written by Joe Carnahan, Netflix details the plot as follows: Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on.
Alongside stars Damon and Affleck is Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, with Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
Damon told Tudum: “In Miami, you have to count the money on-site, so that everybody knows how much is there. They know that it’s almost certainly cartel money that belongs to very dangerous people who are probably going to come get it.
“They’re on the clock, and they have to start thinking of defending where they are because they can’t just leave.”
Affleck added: “It begs the question: What do you do when faced with this massive temptation? What does that mean? What’s it like to see that up close? And then also, who do you trust?”
The Rip is produced by Affleck, Damon, Dani Bernfeld, and Luciana Damon, and the story is by Carnahan and Michael McGrale.
The Rip releases on Netflix on January 16th.
