Charli XCX has once again grabbed everyone’s attention, not with a new single, but with the newly released trailer for her upcoming mockumentary, The Moment. The film offers a playful, self-aware look at fame in the middle of what the internet has dubbed “Brat Summer,” blending real concert footage with scripted behind-the-scenes chaos.
Directed by Aidan Zamiri and co-written with Bertie Brandes, The Moment follows a fictionalized version of Charli as she prepares for her first arena tour. In the trailer, she questions whether her larger-than-life pop persona has already peaked, even calling parts of it “cringe,” which sets the tone for the film’s mix of humour and honesty. It’s clearly not meant to be a straight documentary, but rather a tongue-in-cheek look at what it means to be both a brand and a person in the spotlight.
What stands out most in the trailer is how quickly it shifts between spectacle and awkward reality. One minute, Charli is performing in front of thousands of screaming fans; the next, she’s stuck in tense conversations with her team about image, marketing, and what comes next. There are also surreal and exaggerated moments -including over-the-top visual gags – that underline how absurd celebrity culture can be when taken to its extremes.
The supporting cast adds to that chaotic energy, with a mix of familiar faces from film, comedy, and pop culture appearing alongside Charli. Their presence makes the movie feel less like a solo project and more like a crowded, messy world that she’s trying to navigate.
Set to hit cinemas on January 30, 2026, The Moment looks like it will be more than just a novelty film for fans. If the trailer is anything to go by, it’s shaping up to be a sharp, funny, and surprisingly reflective take on what it’s like to live inside a pop moment while knowing it won’t last forever.
