Newly Released Audio Reshapes Timothy Busfield’s Case

Newly released audio recordings have added a fresh and controversial layer to the legal battle surrounding actor Timothy Busfield.

Shared by his legal team, the recordings capture early police interviews with twin child actors whose later allegations led to criminal charges.

As courts, studios, and Hollywood insiders respond, the case continues to ripple far beyond the courtroom.

The latest development in the case comes from audio recordings taken during initial police interviews with twin boys identified in court filings as VL and SL.

The recordings, first reported by TMZ, date back to November 2024 and were conducted when officers questioned the children shortly after concerns were raised.

During the interview, an officer carefully framed the discussion by asking, “So, you know what is right and wrong, right? You know no one can touch your private areas?”

The response that followed has become central to Busfield’s defense.

One of the boys replied, “Yeah, but he doesn’t touch those parts.” The other followed with an even firmer denial, stating, “No, he’s never touched me… never.”

Busfield’s attorneys argue that these statements contradict later claims and deserve renewed scrutiny.

Despite the content of the audio, prosecutors at the time concluded that the interview did not meet the threshold required to formally establish abuse.

The statements were classified as failing to “disclose” alleged misconduct, allowing the investigation to remain open while further inquiries continued.

According to the arrest warrant, the case shifted significantly nearly a year later.

In October 2025, the children’s mother contacted Child Protective Services, reporting that one child had disclosed new information during therapy sessions.

This later account formed the basis of the criminal charges now facing the actor.

Court documents state that during therapy, one child alleged that Busfield touched his “genitalia” and “bottom” while they were alone in a bedroom on the set of “The Cleaning Lady.”

That claim stands in direct contrast to the initial police interview now resurfacing in court filings.

Busfield’s legal team submitted the audio to a New Mexico court this week, describing it as evidence of an “unequivocal denial” of wrongdoing by the children at the earliest stage of the investigation.

Prosecutors maintain that delayed disclosure does not invalidate later testimony, setting the stage for a contentious legal battle.

Busfield has pleaded not guilty to two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse.

Separate from the case involving the twin boys, Busfield has also been accused of sexually assaulting a third alleged victim, a 16-year-old girl.

According to filings, the incident allegedly occurred during an audition at the B Street Theatre in Sacramento, which Busfield founded.

The motion states per the Daily Mail, “While auditioning for the defendant at B Street Theatre, the 16-year-old reported that (he) kissed her and put his hands down her pants and touched her privates.”

Additional claims within the filing allege Busfield “begged the family to not report to law enforcement if he received therapy,” with the girl’s father, described as “a therapist himself,” believing at the time that therapy was the appropriate response.

However, Busfield’s attorneys presented statements from another actor at the theatre, Matthew Moore, which they argue undermine the credibility of the accusation.

According to court documents, Moore recalled a conversation with the alleged victim’s father that painted a troubling picture of competing motives.

The father allegedly told Moore, “They are going to love it because Tim Busfield is going to present it to them, which I’m certain he will do because he will need to if he thinks he’s going to f* my daughter.”

When Moore questioned why the father believed Busfield was interested in his daughter, the response was reportedly blunt: “Because she’s a total babe.”

Busfield’s legal filings argue that these remarks suggest an attempt to leverage the situation for career advancement.

As the legal drama unfolds, the professional consequences for Timothy Busfield have intensified. Amazon MGM has edited him out of the upcoming romantic comedy “You Deserve Each Other.” The film, which stars Penn Badgley, Justin Long, and Kyle MacLachlan, completed production before the allegations became public.

Editors are now using digital techniques to remove Busfield from scenes without reshoots.
