    Nick Taylor leads after round two of 2026 Sony Open

    Nick Taylor of Winnipeg, Manitoba leads after the second round of the 2026 Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. Taylor, who won the 2025 Sony Open, has a score of nine-under-par, and is tied for the lead with Americans Kevin Roy and Davis Riley, Belgium’s Adrien Dumont de Chassart and South Korea’s Seong-hyeon Kim.

    Taylor is one of two Canadians in contention. That is because Sudarshan Yellamaraju of Winnipeg, who made his PGA debut this weekend in Hawaii this week, is tied for 14th place at -6 and is three strokes back of Taylor.

    On Thursday, Taylor had his 2025 magic as he shot a score of eight-under-par 62. He made eight birdies and zero bogeys. Taylor had birdies on the second, seventh, ninth, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, and 17th holes. On Friday, Taylor shot a score of one-under-par 69. He had four birdies and three bogeys. Taylor birdied the fourth, fifth, 15th and 16th holes, and bogeyed the second, sixth, and 17th holes.

    In round one, Yellamaraju had a score of three-under-par 67. He had one eagle, five birdies, two bogeys and one double-bogeys. Yellamaraju eagled the ninth hole, birdied the third, fifth, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes, bogeyed the second and 16th holes, and double bogeyed the 10th hole. In round two, Yellamaraju once again had a score of three-under-par 67. He had six birdies and three bogeys. Yellamaraju birdied the first, sixth, eighth, 14th, 16th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the third, 12th and 17th holes.

    There is a four-way tie for sixth place at -8. Those one stroke back are Americans Chris Gotterup and Maverick McNealy, England’s John Parry and Japan’s Takumi Kanaya. There is a four-way tie at -7. They are Americans Vince Whaley, Patrick Rodgers, Ryan Gerard and Nick Dunlap. There is an eight-way tie for 14th place at -6. Those seven tied with Yellamaraju are Americans Doug Ghim, Jake Knapp, Alex Smalley, Kurt Kitayama, Ben Griffin, David Ford, and England’s Harry Hall.
