Despite playing most of the game down a player and much of the second half down two players, the Portland Thorns produced a 2-0 victory over the visiting Seattle Reign on Friday.

Pietra Tordin and Reilyn Turner scored first-half goals for the Thorns (2-0-0, 6 points).

Portland’s Cassandra Bogere drew two yellow cards in the first nine minutes, leading to her dismissal. The Thorns’ Reyna Reyes was issued a straight red card in the 57th minute for pulling Madison Curry’s hair.

With the two-woman advantage, Seattle (1-1-0, 3 points) ended up with a 17-8 edge in shots, though the shots on target were even 4-4.

The Thorns grabbed the lead in the 28th minute when Tordin headed in Olivia Moultrie’s corner kick.

Tordin’s throughball set Turner in alone on goal in the 37th minute, and Turner slotted home a shot from 6 yards out.

    Spirit 2, Racing 2

Sofia Cantore and Leicy Santos scored in the second half as Washington erased a two-goal deficit and earned a draw at Louisville.

First-half goals from Kayla Fischer and Emma Sears put Louisville (0-1-1, 1 point) on top before Washington (0-1-1, 1 point) rallied.

Cantore belted a 30-yard right-footed strike into the right side of the net to halve the hosts’ lead in the 50th minute.

In the 74th minute, Rosemonde Kouassi rolled a cross into the middle of the 18-yard box. Santos ran onto the ball and powered it in off a short hop.

Fischer opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Her shot from just behind the top of the box bounced just in front of Spirit goalkeeper Sandy MacIver, who let it slip past her into the net.

Sears took the ball three-quarters of the length of the field to score Louisville’s second goal. Though she had a teammate attacking with her, Sears ran at two Washington defenders and eventually rolled a 10-yard shot from the right side into the far bottom corner of the net.

    Summit 1, Pride 1

Barbra Banda scored on her 26th birthday as host Orlando earned a draw against expansion Denver, which earned its first point.

In the 61st minute, Banda headed in a cross from Jacqueline Ovalle as the Pride (0-1-1, 1 point) leveled the score at 1-1.

Denver’s Natasha Flint slipped in an entry pass to Melissa Kossler in the 24th minute. Kossler rolled the ball into the far corner of the goal in the 24th minute for the Summit (0-1-1, 1 point).
