Katherine LaNasa Recently Won An Emmy For Her Work On The Pitt
LaNasa is an actress originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. Over the years, she’s appeared in a number of television shows, such as playing Ada Stone in the Dynasty reboot in 2018.
LaNasa, however, gained bigger recognition playing Nurse Dana Evans on the medical drama, The Pitt, since 2025. This role earned LaNassa her first Emmy win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
However, LaNasa recently opened up about the dark times she’s faced before finding success on The Pitt. During a recent episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she also touched on an emotional meeting with the show’s host during this time.
On this past Wednesday’s episode, LaNasa reminisced that she met Colbert at the Emmys last year. Sharing the moment left her “gobsmacked” at the time, she wanted to share something with the host now that she was a guest on his show. As she admitted, “About a year before I got ‘The Pitt,’ I was in a dark place.”
The Actress Admitted To Facing Various Dark Times Over The Years
LaNasa took note of many of the hardships she’s faced over the years, from unemployment to cancer. She continued, “When I was growing up, if something didn’t go your way, it was like, ‘Why did you do it like that?’” The actress also noted that she was “riddled with regrets.”
LaNasa noted that, during this time, she saw a clip of Colbert talking to Anderson Cooper. Paraphrasing what she saw, the actress noted she took Colbert’s share, that “grief and our loss is part of what makes us human,” to heart.
LaNasa continued, “It allows us to understand and connect with other people, and if we’re really going to love our life, that we have to love all of it. We can’t turn our back on that part.” In particular, a feeling she really took to heart was “In the depths of my despair, I heard you.”
