The 46th Annual Razzies Awards celebrate the worst films of the year, and by no surprise, Prime Video’s War of the Worlds has swept the awards.
War of the Worlds is a cyber-take on the classic novel by H.G. Wells, and this year managed to take home 5 major awards at the Razzies, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.
The only one of the six nominations that the film lost for was the Worst Screen Combo, with that being awarded to the collective group of CGI Seven Dwarves from Disney’s live-action Snow White, which also won the Worst Supporting Actor for their combined performances.
Two other awards handed out were Rebel Wilson, taking home Worst Actress for Bride Hard, and Scarlet Rose Stallone, taking home Worst Supporting Actress for Gunslingers.
On the brighter side of the Razzies, the Razzie Redeemer Award went to Kate Hudson, who found herself being nominated this year for her performance in Song Sung Blue, having found herself being nominated for several Razzies Awards.
Other nominees amongst the contenders, including Star Trek: Section 31, The Electric State, Smurfs, In the Lost Lands, and Hurry Up Tomorrow, all walked away empty-handed on the night.
The Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as the Razzies and Razzie Awards) are a parody award show honouring the worst of cinematic failures. The Golden Raspberry Foundation has claimed that the award “encourages well-known filmmakers and top-notch performers to own their bad.”
