Prince Harry’s Kids May Reunite With King Charles Amid Security Review

This is due to a review of the duke’s UK security by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC). Harry lost his appeal to restore publicly funded protection after stepping back from royal duties, leaving him and his family based in California.

Despite past tensions, Prince Harry and King Charles notably reunited in September, sharing a joyous family moment, with the duke presenting a framed photo of his children to his dad.

Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, may be closer to seeing their grandfather in the UK following a breakthrough in the Duke of Sussex’s security arrangements.

According to reports, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) is now conducting a thorough review of Harry’s threat level after gathering evidence from both his team and law enforcement. Officials are expected to announce the outcome next month.

A spokesperson for the UK government told People Magazine, “The UK Government’s protective security system is rigorous and proportionate. It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”

Earlier this year, Harry lost his appeal against the decision to remove his publicly funded security after stepping back from royal duties and relocating to North America.

Family tensions had intensified following the release of Harry’s 2023 memoir and accompanying Netflix series, which highlighted ongoing conflicts and strained relationships within the royal household.

Despite this, the duke and King Charles reunited in London this past September in a meeting described by sources to Us Weekly as “genuine and positive,” complete with “hugs and tears.”

Harry later dismissed claims that the encounter felt formal or distant, insisting he was treated as family rather than an “official visitor.”

Reports also confirmed that Harry brought a framed photo of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to share with his father.

A spokesperson explained, “While we would have preferred such details to remain private, for the sake of clarity, we can confirm that a framed photograph was handed over, however, the image did not contain the Duke and Duchess.”

Before this reunion, Harry and Charles had not met in person since February 2024, when the king publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis.

At the time, the duke made a swift trip to the UK to be with his father due to the severity of the news.

In a pointed BBC interview last May, following the loss of his court appeal to restore 24-hour security, Harry accused the Royal Household of interfering in the 2020 decision that abruptly downgraded his threat level, which saw him go from the most at-risk royal to the least threatened practically overnight.

When asked which aspects of his current arrangements left him feeling unsafe, Harry responded simply: “Everything.”

He attributed the situation to a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up,” adding, “The other side has won in keeping me unsafe.”

Harry, Meghan, and their children currently reside in California, where their annual security costs reportedly run into the millions.

The duke told the publication that, after losing the legal battle over his security detail, it would be “impossible” to bring Meghan and the children to the UK.

Despite the tensions, Harry emphasized his enduring affection for the country at the time.

“I still love the UK, despite what some people in that country have done,” he said, calling it “really quite sad” that he won’t be able to share his homeland with his children.

In September, the Daily Mail reported that the Metropolitan Police voluntarily provided security for Harry during his visit to London.

Sources said senior Met officers “acted on their own initiative” to ensure the duke’s protection while he attended the WellChild Awards on September 8.

Harry’s representatives were reportedly contacted ahead of the high-profile event, which involved many children, to arrange security coverage.

The decision was made independently by the Met, without involvement from the Home Office or the Royal Family, and was based on the public nature of the ceremony.

Despite these measures, a woman reportedly obsessed with Harry managed to get within feet of him twice during his visit.

On September 9, she entered a “secure zone” at a central London hotel where Harry was present. Two days later, she was intercepted by a member of his private staff at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies in west London, where no police were on site.
