In a new book, author Russell Myers claims the Prince of Wales was troubled by his uncle’s conduct and urged decisive action after the fallout from Andrew’s BBC Newsnight interview about Jeffrey Epstein.

As King Charles balances reform, family loyalty, and cancer treatment, differing approaches have reportedly strained the father-son relationship, raising fresh concerns about the monarchy’s future.

William is said to have always held strong views about his uncle, Andrew, long before his recent public ridicule due to his arrest.

The claims come from royal editor Russell Myers in his new book “William and Catherine,” which explores how the Prince and Princess of Wales have navigated the turbulence surrounding the House of Windsor in recent years.

According to Myers, concerns about Andrew’s conduct within palace walls existed well before his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became public knowledge.

Drawing on conversations with palace sources, Myers writes that William was never particularly impressed with his uncle.

“It was very clear to me, made by several people I’d spoken to for the book, how William thought his uncle was always a bit of an ignoramus,” said Myers, per Fox News Digital.

According to Myers, the future king “had a real issue with the way that Andrew treated his staff.”

William reportedly disapproved of what he perceived as an entitled and dismissive attitude, qualities he and Kate strive to avoid in their own household.

“They are very centered on producing really sound and enjoyable working environments for the people who are employed by them,” Myers noted.

He continued, “They’re very respectful of the people that they work with. You just have to look at the amount of time that people stayed and worked within their household.”

Tensions reportedly escalated after Andrew’s widely criticized 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, in which he attempted to explain his relationship with Epstein. The interview drew significant backlash for failing to show remorse toward Epstein’s victims.

According to Myers, Prince William believed decisive action was necessary to protect the monarchy from reputational damage.

He reportedly urged both his father and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to distance the institution from Andrew, warning that failing to act could damage the royal family’s standing.

He is said to have argued that Andrew “must be banished before the rot sets in.”

Although Andrew continued to deny any wrongdoing, public scrutiny intensified, and multiple investigations into allegations connected to him followed.

Myers added that it “was six years later before King Charles finally took that action of stripping his title, stripping his honors and exiling him from public life.”

When Charles III ascended the throne in 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, pressure mounted to resolve what insiders called “the Andrew problem.”

According to royal observers, Charles and William were not entirely aligned on how decisively the matter should be handled.

Charles, said to feel a lingering duty toward his younger brother, appeared inclined toward a cautious and considered response.

William, however, has been portrayed as more hardline, prioritizing the monarchy’s future stability and public trust over family sensitivities.

Myers wrote that if “William had had his way, then certainly the royal family would’ve been able to be on the front foot many years ago.”

Amid these tensions, William and Kate are also said to be worried about the toll the ongoing controversy could take on the king, particularly as he undergoes cancer treatment.

Royal commentators told Fox News Digital that the couple’s concern is understandable, especially as public approval ratings have reportedly dipped over how the palace has responded to renewed scrutiny surrounding Andrew’s past associations, including his ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first public appearance since Andrew’s reported arrest at the British Academy Film Awards, where William serves as BAFTA president.

During the event, William acknowledged he was not in a “calm state.” When asked on the red carpet whether he had seen the historical drama “Hamnet,” directed by Chloé Zhao, he replied that he would prefer to watch it when he was in a calmer headspace.
