Public Mobile boosted the data available on some of its plans to more closely match Boxing Week offers from Freedom Mobile. Plus, Public has some special offers for existing customers… if you’re lucky.
Last week, Freedom dropped its Boxing Week deals with plans like $39/70GB and $49/100GB with 5G+ data and Canada/U.S./Mexico roaming. Public was almost matching Freedom’s previous plans (give or take $1), so it’s hardly a surprise the Telus-owned wireless carrier has shifted to match Freedom’s newest deals.
Here are Public’s plans:
- $50/100GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (previously $50/80GB or $60/100GB).
- $40/70GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (previously $40/60GB).
- $35/10GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (unchanged).
- $30/8GB 5G Canada-wide (unchanged).
- $25/4GB Canada-wide (unchanged).
- $20/1GB Canada-wide (unchanged).
Public doesn’t list an end date for its deals and simply notes they’re “holiday exclusive[s].” Typically, carriers offer Boxing Week deals into early January, so there isn’t a huge rush to sign up right away. (Besides, there’s always a chance deals will get better if you wait!)
Along with the above plans, Public is offering deals to some existing customers. Some reported that Public has a $30/30GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico available for existing customers. You can check for it by logging into your Public account and clicking the button to change your subscription — for me, it was at the bottom of the list of plans. However, your mileage may vary with this one.
If you do have that plan available, it’s a pretty solid offer in my opinion. Public’s in-market $30 plan only includes 8GB of data and is limited to Canada, so getting 30GB and Canada/U.S/Mexico roaming for the same price is quite good.
