Telus-owned Public Mobile just increased the data on several plans in an attempt to head off Freedom Mobile.
Early on Friday, Freedom brought back its $40/250GB plan for a limited time. In response, Public added a bunch of data to its plans. The offers only last until March 16.
Here’s what Public has available now:
- $35/50GB CAN/US + 500 international minutes (prev. $35/40GB)
- $40/150GB CAN/US/MEX + 1,000 international minutes (prev. $40/100GB)
- $50/250GB CAN/US/MEX + 2,000 international minutes (prev. $50/150GB)
Public Mobile plans as of March 13, 2026.
While none of those plans quite match up to Freedom’s $40/250GB offer, they do hit Freedom in other areas. For example, Public’s $35/50GB plan has a lot more data than Freedom’s $35/10GB plan.
Similarly, Public’s $50/250GB beats out Freedom’s $50/100GB plan, though I think most people looking at 250GB will be going for Freedom’s $40 deal anyway.
Even if Public’s deals aren’t better than Freedom’s, it’s great to see wireless providers duking it out with deals like this. Here’s hoping we continue to see downward price pressure on wireless plans.
Those interested can check out all the plans on Public’s website.
