Telus-owned Public Mobile changed up its plans again, for the most part increasing prices and reducing data buckets. It also started offering a $10 bonus credit for customers who refer-a-friend.
- $40/30GB 5G Canada/U.S. (new)
- $45/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (previously $40/60GB)
- $50/80GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (unchanged)
- $35/15GB 5G Canada-wide (previously $35/10GB)
- $30/6GB 4G Canada-wide (new)
- $25/3GB 4G Canada-wide (previously $25/4GB)
- $20 Canada-wide talk and text (previously $20/1GB)
Overall, the new plans are pretty mid. Public’s offerings have steadily declined in value over the summer, which is quite disappointing to see. At the same time, Public’s plans are still ahead of the likes of Koodo and Fido, which have $45/40GB options (and not even 5G at that!).
The only exception here is Public’s $35 plan, which actually got a small boost from 10GB to 15GB of data.
Meanwhile, Freedom Mobile still leads the pack with its $39/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan. So, with that in mind, I’d recommend Freedom for most people, but if it’s not an option for you, Public is still a decent second choice (even if its plans aren’t as good as before).
